QUINSIPPI ISLAND 1100 QUINSIPPI ISLAND RD / quincyparkdistrict.com Unique island park with 130 acres, small beach, Log Cabin Village, and marina. Access through All America Park at Front & Cedar then cross the narrow bridge. 3. BOB BANGERT PARK 1925 BONANSINGA DR quincyparkdistrict.com Wetlands, summer nature programs, shore fishing + boat ramp. 4. BEN BUMBREY RIVERVIEW PARK 1001 N 2ND / quincyparkdistrict.com One of three continuous parks with rock-lined roadways on Quincy’s north side. Star of the show: breathtaking views of the Mississippi River. 5. GARDNER PARK NATURE TRAILS 3RD & LOCUST / quincyparkdistrict.com Three miles of hiking, running, and mountain biking experiences, with forested habitat, wildlife and rocky areas + astounding topography & views. 6. BILL KLINGNER TRAIL 2533 N 18TH / quincyparkdistrict.com Walking, bicycling and running: 3-mile asphalt trail, stretching from the riverfront to N 24th. Pedestrian traffic only; open from dawn to dusk. 7. STONE ARCH BRIDGE 1700 BLOCK OF SOUTH 8TH Historic stone bridge built circa 1899, spanning Curtis Creek on S 8th. 8. INDIAN MOUNDS PARK 1500 S 5TH / quincyparkdistrict.com The Native American Burial Mounds in Quincy is one of the best preserved complexes still evident in the Upper Mississippi River Valley. Timeline panels guide the way: 37 acres and 23 mounds, dating from 200 BCE-1000 CE. 9. NATURE TRAILS EAST 3420 KOCHS LN / quincyparkdistrict.com NEW! 15 acres of nature trails and wildlife running parallel to Cedar Creek, from 25th St to 36th St and Kochs Lane. 10. SPRING VALLEY TRAILS & ARBORETUM 1301 S 48TH / jwcc.edu A delightful find, three small trails on the southeast side of the John Wood Community College campus provide a secluded excursion with wildflower & butterfly gardens, wildlife, and outdoor games.

Prime bald eagle viewing (boat ramp provides the best spot) + seasonal observation deck. 2. FALL CREEK STATE PARK 1130 N 223RD LN, PAYSON / dnr.illinois.gov Historic stone arch bridge (pedestrian traffic), circa 1855. 223 acres of woods, creek, waterfalls, wildlife + scenic overlook. 3. HEARTLAND LODGE 10236 393RD, NEBO / heartlandlodge.com A Polaris adventure destination and largest ATV/UTV park in IL with 80+ miles of trails. Bring your own off-road vehicle or rent a side-by-side. Horseback riding, hayrides, mountain bikes. 4. LAKE PITTSFIELD 2 MILES EAST OF US 54 & 1.5 MILES NORTH OF IL 106, Pittsfield / pittsfieldil.org 480-acre recreational park with 200-acre lake. Boating, fishing, camping, hiking, picnicking, shelters. 5. SILOAM SPRINGS STATE PARK 938 E 3003RD LN, CLAYTON / dnr.state.il.us 3,323-acre site with wooded terrain, forested gullies, wildflowers and sparkling lake. Ideal for fishing, boating, picnicking, hiking, bird watching, and camping.

6. NAUVOO STATE PARK 980 BLUFF ST, NAUVOO / dnr.state.il.us On the banks of the Mississippi, 148-acre park with 13-acre lake and a mile-long shore line. Fishing, boating, camping, and hiking. Nauvoo’s first vineyard also occupies the grounds producing grapes since the 1800s (see Baxter’s Vineyards, p. 6) 7. TEN ACRE TREE HOUSES 1825 N COUNTY RD 900, NAUVOO / tenacretreehouses.net Off-grid lodging nestled in a 28-acre forest eight miles outside of Nauvoo.
