PQseibilities lor the Christian “I wM perform that good thing which I have promised” (Jer. 33:14). It is possible, for those who are willing to reckon on the power of the Lord for keeping and victory, to lead a life in which His promises are taken as they stand. It is possible to cast all our care upon Him daily and to enjoy deep peace in doing it. These things are divine possibilities, and because they are His work, the ex perience of them will always cause us to bow low at His feet. We cannot be satisfied with anything less than to walk with God in the power of the Holy Spirit each moment of each day. —H. G. C. Moule. Today—My Trust ‘‘And the King shall. . . say. . . In asmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me” (Matt. 25:40). We shall do so much in the years to come, But what have we done today? We shall give our gold in a princely sum, But what did we give today? We shall lift the heart and dry the tear, We shall plant a hope in the place of fear, We shall speak the words of love and cheer, But what did we speak today? We shall reap such joys in the by-and-by, But what have we sown today? We shall build us mansions in the sky, But what have we built today? ’Tis sweet in these idle dreams to bask, But here and now, do we do our task? Yes, this is the thing our hearts must ask: What have I done today? —Revelation. Blessed Pouring Out ‘‘He would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the Lord” (2 Sam. 23:16). I can never sanctify to God that with which I long to satisfy myself. If I am going to satisfy myself with the blessings of God, they will corrupt me; I have to sacrifice them—pour them out. David poured out the water before the Lord. What has been like water from the well to you recently? Love, friendship, spiritual blessing? Then at the peril of your soul, you take it to satisfy yourself. If you do, you cannot pour out before the Lord. How am I to pour out spiritual gifts? In my mind I must give them to the Lord,—Oswald Chambers.

Cleansing for the Feet “Peter saith unto him, Thou sh$lt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me” (John 13:8). This was spoken to one of whom the Lord said that he was bathed. When we who are bathed, refuse the washing of our feet, then this solemn pronouncement is true of us. If any sin is cherished, unconfessed, then we exclude ourselves from fellowship and blessing. When we have availed our selves of the provision of" His grace, we ought to wash one another’s feet, in all that that sentence means—low liness of heart, a willingness to serve one another in the bonds of Christ, and a concern that the feet of others may be cleansed from defilement — give through us those ministries of His grace whereby this shall be accom plished.— The Life of Faith. The Way to Discover His Will “Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?” (Acts 9:6). In the great workshop of our con stitution there is the delicate scale of spiritual sensibility, intended to guide us as to the knowledge of the will of God in things not distinctly revealed as commanded or forbidden, as either true or false, right or wrong. For in stance, t h e r e is something about which you have an honest doubt con cerning your personal life and you do not know how to adjust i t . . . If you find, when in the closet before God, and under the searchlight of the Word, that the thing about which you have doubt goes down as unworthy of you and of God—then there should be no difficulty in discovering your rightful position.—A. T. Pierson. Nearness of Christ “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us” (Eph. 3:20). The sovereign greatness of Christ is not that of a majesty remote in the heaven, it is an available and active energy within the life of the Christian, disengaging him from all sinful at tachments, and enabling him to rise to a completely new experience. The power of Christ is not only available as forgiveness for the past, it is also available for the every-day life. The friendship of Christ and the presence of His Spirit in the lives of His people raise them far above themselves, so that they can say, “I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me.” —John Macbeath.
