STYLING THE KITCHEN

SPACE PL ANNING T I PS • If there is limited counter space, an island, hutch or rolling cart are great options for adding extra cooking room, or workspace storage while allowing the kitchen to feel cozier. • Plan for at least 42" between the island and nearest countertop or wall. • For kitchens with high counters, barstools are a quick and easy way to create the perfect spot for afternoon snacks, or a place for quick weekday dinners. Make sure the customer understands that barstools typically come in two heights. Counter height and Bar height. • Follow the dining table and chair guidelines found in the above dining room section for advice on choosing a kitchen or breakfast nook dining solution. • In a kitchen with limited built–in cabinetry, a buffet or a glass cabinet is a great alternative for storage. • Think vertically — cleverly placed wall–mountable shelves can convert often wasted space into a spot for storage or showcasing favorite spices or displaying unique artwork.
