THE CONSULTATION

DAY OF THE IN-HOME APPOINTMENT T IME AND MI L EAGE

• Design Associates will be paid for transit time to off-site consultations, as well as for mileage accrued. The following information must be logged prior to leaving the store: • Time of departure • Location and nature of business • The client’s contact information • The estimated time of return (Contact the store via phone if the appointment is the end of the scheduled shift) • Record mileage for expense reporting PERSONAL SAF E T Y • When conducting business away from the store, associate safety should be the highest priority. • Designers associates should always carry a cell phone on appointments and contact store management at the time of arrival and departure from the client’s home. Associates should also call the store if the appointment is running longer than expected. V I S I T OVERV I EW • Allow the client to show the rooms they are seeking advice on, and any room that may provide a sense of the client’s style. • Measure the furniture that will remain in the space, making measurement notes on your drawing. • If not already completed, fill out the Design Crew Lead Sheet to take notes of the client’s requests and preferences. Ask clarifying questions as needed to better understand what the client is looking for. • If possible, take photographs. This will require getting the client’s permission. • Utilize the catalogs to offer the client selections from the complete Williams- Sonoma Inc. assortment. • Recap the conversation prior to leaving and ensure all of the necessary information has been recorded. • Thank the client for their time and commit to a time frame for follow up.
