HOW TO: CHOOS ING AND HANGING CHANDEL I ERS AND PENDANTS : S I Z ING A CHANDE L I ER • Chandeliers should be approximately 12 inches narrower than the table and have at least 48 inches of space from each edge or room wall. HE IGHT DE T ERMINAT ION • To rest at the proper height for the space, the chandelier should hang approximately 30–36 inches above the table with a ceiling height of 8 feet. • For ceilings higher than 8 feet, mount the chandelier an additional 3 inches higher for each foot of ceiling. • Pendants for kitchen islands should hang 30–36 inches above the surface. T I PS Be aware of surrounding light levels within the space and select a fixture that will improve or balance existing lighting. Hanging multiple pendants above a rectangular table can be a very effective choice, for properly lighting the entire table surface as well as aesthetics. Professional installation is recommended.
