Her ultimate goal is to acquire a handful of rental properties and get a foothold in the Airbnb market. She’s adamant she’s here to stay. Island life is not without its challenges. Time-keeping is one, availability of some essential goods another. “Ordering from Amazon is not quite the same; it’s not exactly express anymore,” Sekeena smiles. “But it’s made me appreciate things. I take care when using products; I don’t squeeze so hard.” Asked what her friends and family think of her impulsive move 4,000 miles away from the land of her birth, she doesn’t hesitate. “They think I’m a rockstar,” she laughs. “Stress doesn’t exist anymore,” Sekeena continues. “I was so stressed before. Bills in the UK were soaring. I found myself wondering, what am I living for? Just to go to work, pay bills and not really have much quality of life? There was no balance. “I’m at a stage in my life now where I want to do what I love, and be where I love. And I love this place. I’m the happiest I’ve ever been.
