F or an architect, there are probably worse conundrums to have to consider. Should a property be positioned to amplify a canvas of flawless Caribbean coastline – or to best encompass the sunsets that routinely set the west coast sky on fire? The best architects of all have an instinct for anticipating a client’s desires, the expertise to respond to the local environment, and the vision to create an inspiring and unique design, laced with an element of surprise. So when James Hamilton and his team were tasked with crafting superlative designs to enchant Pearns Point’s discerning clientele, they took every perspective into account. The result is a striking home whose curved form coddles a circular pool, maximising both the pristine beach it fringes and the flame-coloured hues that erupt just before dusk. The property is ensconced in the virgin vegetation that lends an additional touch of magic to the site.
“There’s something inherently pleasing about a house that curves in on itself; it’s almost self-reflecting,” James says. Villa Iris was named in reference to the eyes and the vistas they will absorb. The design splays out from the central focus of the swimming pool, the contours mirrored in the sun shelf and deck spaces. Spanning 7,000 square feet, the blueprint was conceived especially for lot 28 of the development but can be adjusted to suit a buyer’s individual preferences, such as by adding a spa or gym. It currently features five ensuite bedrooms, one within an impressive master wing complete with large bathroom, walk- in closets and an office. The villa’s curved open-plan interior includes a huge lounge fronted by floor-to-ceiling glass, a chef’s kitchen and dining area. Terraces have been built into the exterior to allow for a
