JOINT FIRST PLACE WINNER 6–9 YEAR OLDS CATEGORY NOAH MICHAEL Liberta Primary School Trapped in a Bowl You pretend to be my best friend and to love me But you are my biggest enemy! You kidnap me from my beautiful home and put me in this bag or bowl. Do you think it is fair for me? Do you think you are making me happy? You are mean because you trap me inside of this ball. How would you like to go around and around in circles Or back and forth all day? When you could have a big ocean to splash and play. The ocean is huge It has all my friends and family, and lots of space to roam. I am so lonely, I want to go home! The sea is healthy, It is green and blue and clean. But this bowl is a polluted stinky mess. You forgot to clean it and I am vexed. In addition there’s plenty of food to eat in the sea But I am starving to death because you forgot to feed me. If you are really my friend and you truly love me, Then you will be happy to set me free. The only thing I want from you, Is to have a heart and set me free. I want to be free. This bowl is like a prison. It is too small.
We might not feel the same way. But it is important for us to say. Mummy says I must report my feelings So to get her attention and care I show and tell her that it hurts and where.
She has an idea in her head Of the treatment I should get But if medicine is hush or pill
She cuddles me with love And tells me to keep still. If I have to see a doctor It makes me scared, But I still report my feeling, For I know the doctor is my healing. I tell my teacher when I am sick Because I do not want my friends to catch it. It might be a cold or flu, Reporting is the correct thing to do.
