Applications are being filed by nationals of all governments, other th an the Turkish, O ttoman subjects autom atic ally becoming citizens. Numerous com plaints have been received from resi dents who became O ttom a n . subjects during th e w ar who are required for th a t reason to petition for Palestine citizenship. They m aintain th a t they embraced th e Turkish nationality un der m ilitary pressure, and a t th e ad vice of such Jewish leaders as th e lexi cographer, E liezer Ben Yehuda, who urged th e Jews in th e early days of the war to identify themselves entirely The Episcopalian Bishops in th e ir re cent session a t P ortland, Oregon, have made a change in th e ir prayer book in order to please the Jews. The passage in th e ir P rayer Book which read “Have mercy on all Jews, Turks, infidels and h eretics” was changed to read thus, “Have mercy on all who know thee not.” Rev. Dr. C. L. Slaterly, of New York, Secretary of the P rayer Book Re vision Commission, in proposing the w ith th e Turkish state. A Courtesy to th e Jews Temple Service Anticipated Chief Rabbi Kook of Jerusalem has announced th a t a new Yeshibah will be founded in the Holy City for the pu r pose of instructing men of priestly and Levitic parentage in th e ir duties in th e Temple. This includes formulas of sacrifices, etc. The rabbi believes th is to be an u rgent necessity, since he perceives the rebuilding of th e Tem ple as near a t hand. W hat will the world th ink when th e Jews begin ritu al sacrifices to Jehovah in Jerusalem in this modern day? G reat B ritain Stands By Lord Robert Cecil, who recently ar rived in th is country from London, has given a statem en t to th e Jewish P ress which appeared in th e New P al estine, organ of th e Zionist organization of America. The statem en t says: “The B ritish government and th e responsible, righ t-th ink ing people of England are for the establishm ent of the Jewish national homeland in Pales tine. G reat B ritain will never w ith draw from her prom ises.” Lord Cecil is also quoted as saying: “X believe th a t when th e history of the war comes to be im partially w ritten the two g reatest resu lts will be th e estab lishment of the national Jewish home land and the creation of th e League of Nations. The two are not really disconnected. They represent th e two g reat ideas for which we fought and by which we conquered—'the ideas of na tionalism and internationalism . W ill Not Go Back on Jews When asked as to th e a ttitu d e of th e present B ritish government toward th e establishm ent of th e Jewish n a tional homeland, Lord Cecil said:
