said when he grew up he would go about and tell people of th e Saviour Jesus, who was coming to save people from th e ir sins. We see th a t even be fore God sent this little baby into the home, He had a plan fo r his life, and boys and girls, did you know th a t God has a plan for your life, ju st as He did for John. T h at is why so many people make a sad failu re of th eir life, because they will not le t God carry out His plan for th e ir life. A fter a while this little baby came into th e home of Zacharias and E lisabeth ju st as th e angel had promised. When he was eight days old his parents took him up to the temple and dedicated, or gave him to th e Lord. Jo h n ’s parents died before he grew up to manhood, and he had no sister or brother. He lived in the lonely wilderness, away from the rest of the ,people, un til he was a man, and the tim e had come for him to preach to the Jews and tell them about Jesus. For th is little child whom God had given to Zacharias and E lisabeth, was John th e Baptist. Our memory verse tells us th a t he shall be g reat in th e sight of the Lord, and shall drink no wine, nor strong drink. No boy or girl who drinks wine or strong drink, o r smokes, can be g reat in th e sight of God, for those things in ju re th e bodies God has given us, and make our brains dull, so we can not th ink clearly and quickly. When we do anything th a t injures our bodies, we spoil God’s plan for our lives. God could use John the Baptist, because he took care of his body and kept it clean and pure, and did th e things God wanted him to do. Will you let God carry out His plan for your life? especially tim ely in view of the preva lent cure-all fads: “When I was well I used to say, ‘I’m getting b etter every day, more buoy an tly I tre a d ;’1I felt improvement as I spieled, imaginary ills were healed, and phantom ailm ents fled. And, so I said to all my friends, ‘H ere’s where th e doc’s ' profession ends, th e pill- sm ith ’s trad e is gone; henceforth sug gestion will avail where saws don’t help, and capsules fail, and you may bank thereon.’ But recently I caught th e flu and when the blamed attack was new I said to neighbors five/ ‘Now watch me cure th is dread disease; I ’ll spring my ‘g etting -better’ wheeze; be fore it ills can’t thrive;’ I murmured, as I went my way, ‘I ’m getting better every day, I don’t need doc or nu rse,’ and thu s I tried to kill th e flu and kept on trying when I knew th a t I was get ting worse. My neighbors five stood in a group and watched me cough and sneeze and whoop, and they were g reat ly pleased; for they had argued, w ith much steam , th a t faith in such a dippy scheme betrayed a mind diseased. I do not say th a t they were righ t, bu t I am tak ing pills tonight and dope and boneset tea; and Old Doc Casket ju st has said, ‘You w ait un til you’re nearly dead before you send for me. I am disgusted w ith you lads Who tak e up modern cure-all fads as soon as they begin; you fool w ith them and fool w ith fate, and when Grim Death is at th e gate you call the doctor in .’"” H UNDREDS have been helped and made successful workers through taking a Bible Course by Correspond ence.
