He eith er didn’t say what He m eant or He didn’t mean w hat He said, they say, and then they go ahead to tell us w hat He MEANT when He said He was coming again. He m eant th e Holy Spirit would come and when He came th a t was what Jesus m eant by H is own coming again, or when Je ru salem was destroyed, He came back again, or He comes every tim e a be liever dies or a sinner is converted. They even go as far as to say, “He is coming again, BUT He cannot come be fore th e whole world is converted and Christ has reigned a thousand years in th e h earts of th e saved, then He will come and reign a thousand years on th e earth. Yet we are told th a t no man knoweth th e day when He comes, but these tell us they can tell exactly th e day, Viz., when th e last sinner is converted and then one thousand years afte r th a t th e Lord will come. Now, th is is not fair or honest. If th e Lord was the g reatest teacher th e world ever knew, th en surely He knew w h at He was talk ing about and m eant ju st what He said when He said He was coming back again. He doesn’t need any of us to help Him to say w hat He means. I t is ju st this. If we deny th e Bible to be the word of God, then we can honestly deny th e second coming of the Lord Jesus, b u t if we say we believe th e Bible to be, not contain, th e word of God, then we are neith er fair nor honest, if we either deny the second coming of the Lord, as a visible, per sonal imm inent reality, or try to make the words mean something else. He is coming again. The very same Jesus. As His church— His bride—we have His promise, “ I will come again.” We have His ordinance of His supper, “Till He come.” We have His com mand. “Occupy till I come.” We have th e a ttitu d e we are to be daily in.
“W aiting for His Son from heaven.” We have the prayer we are to pray. “ Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” “ So I am watching and I am waiting Each moment of th e day.
