victory over death, sin, and law. “God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him” (1 Thess. 5:9, 10). O, let us ever remember that it is through Him that we have the victory. He loved us and washed us from our sin s in His own blood. He secured for us by His obed ience unto death all the blessings of redemption. Through His merits we are justified, and consequently we shall be glorified in resurrection bodies. With Him and in union with Him we shall be victors over death, sin, and law. Dr. Gill says, “He has gotten the victory over sin ; He has put it away by the sacrifice of Himself; He has finished and made an end of i t ; for though it reigns over His pep- ple before conversion, and dwells in them after yet in consequence of His atonement for, it, it loses its governing power through the Spirit and grace of God in regenera tion, and entirely its damning power over them, and in the resurrection morn will not be so much as in being in them; the view of which now fills them with joy, thanksgiving, and triumph. Christ has obtained a victory over the law; He has stopped its mouth, and answered all its demands; He has been made under, and subject to it; He has obeyed its precepts, and borne its penalty, and has delivered His from the curse and condemnation of it, so that they have nothing to fear from it; it is dead to them, and they to it. He has also abolished death by dying and rising again, so that it shall have no more dominion over H im : and He has abolished it as a penal evil to His saints; and though they die, they shall not .always remain under the power of death. They shall live again, and with Him for ever. He has conquered the grave by rising out of it Himself, and living for evermore, having the keys of the grave in His hands; and will at the last day oblige it to give up its dead, when His victory over this, with respect to His people, will be abundantly manifest.”

"That ye may know what is the hope of His calling ... according to the working of His mighty power, which He wrought in Christ when He raised Him from the dead . . . and hath put all things under His feet.” 'J. Ephesians 1:18,19, 22: The Lord lay in the garden sepulchre, Yet no corruption stained His Sacred Flesh; Which remained fresh and sweet as when a child. No life now thrilled the heart, and nerves and brain: The Fingers that touched blind eyes and they saw Now rested motionless; and marble-like: The Lips, Ithat' spake as ne’er man spake before;' Were silent now and colorless and cold: The Feet that traveled along Duty’s path, To carry out the Father’s errands, now Were motionless within the darksome tomb: The Tender Eyes; were closed:. J esus was dead ! . But suddenly a heavenly Visitant, Dispatched from Heaven’s High Courts, to ope’ the door, Rolled the great stone-wheel from the sepulchre. Now, in obedience to the Father’s Will, The Word became incarnate once again; And entered once more to His dwelling place, Restoring life to all the Sacred Frame. He rose, p- H e rose — He carried up our flesh Into the Realms of Glory, at the side Of His Great Father, Whose. Will He had done. Over all principality and power, And might and all dominion, Jesus reigns! And thiSj my soul, the Spirit gives to thee, As the blest picture of thy happy state, The power which raised the Saviour .from the dead Is day by day to work in thee through faith. He Who'raised Christ, will Saving Grace complete In thee, “putting all sin beneath thy feet.”
“Praise the Saviour, ye who know Him, Who can tell how much we owe Him ? Gladly let us render to Him, All we are and have.” .
