DO SOMETHING BETTER IN THE GARDEN
3Ways to Improve Your Harvest
There’s something beautiful about cultivating your own harvest, but you can growmore than simple backyard vegetables. Help your garden “grow up” by trying something unique this spring. Grow Fun Foods We plant gardens for a purpose, so why not make it fun! Plant fresh basil, tomatoes, onions, peppers, oregano, and more to create a garden worthy of your next
nature — trees grow at the top, shrubs and bushes are below, and other small plants and vines intermingle within. Choose crops that help each other grow (like corn, beans, and squash), and offer aid to your garden without digging up too much soil or disturbing its natural process. Permaculture gardening requires thoughtful planning, but once your crops are in place, nature will take its course. Plant for Your Health Mass production of your favorite fruits and vegetables reduces their key nutrients. Instead, choose fresh, home-grown varieties to yield greater health benefits. This is good news for those living with heart disease, joint disorders, or other chronic conditions. You can grow a garden chock full of nutrient-rich foods! Colorful fruits, root veggies, onions, and beans are great for joint health, while leafy greens can boost heart health. HOW A FEW SECONDS OF EVIDENCE CHANGED A CLIENT’S LIFE
Case of the Month
On our cover, we talk about how Nadia Comăneci inspires us and millions of others to go the extra mile in whatever we do. At Medlin Law Firm, we always go the extra mile whenever we can because, to be honest, the odds tend to be against us. Courts and juries often want to incriminate you and catch as many “bad guys” as possible. But with a strong defense, the American democratic system can always deliver fairness as it was designed to do. We recently had a great example of this. We had a case that made it very difficult to position our client fairly. There was a lot of evidence against them. We thought: What could we possibly do to turn this entire case around? Although it’d be very laborious, we decided to review hours and hours of video footage of our client sitting in the back of the arresting officer’s police car — every single minute and second. This took a long time and
plenty of concentration because nothing was really happening for most of it.
However, we felt we needed to watch it all because any little thing could change the case entirely. And it did. During the arrest and buried within hours of tape, we found that the arresting officer made a racist comment. That was huge. Our client was Latin Hispanic, and it helped us prove that there was a racial bias within the arrest. After the jury heard the racist comment, it only took five minutes for them to decide our client wasn’t guilty. We got an acquittal and won the case. At Medlin Law Firm, we take these types of efforts with every case. We believe that no matter who you are, you deserve to be treated fairly in court. If you’re convicted of a crime, don’t hesitate to give us a call right away — timing can make all the difference in collecting evidence to protect you in court.
