1960s The main land granted by Coventry City Council and Warwickshire County Council in the early 1960s. The first buildings were completed in 1965 (and now house Biological Sciences); by 1970 the Library, Science and Arts Buildings and Rootes Residences had been built on central campus. 1980s The 1980s saw the further expansion of the Arts Centre, the construction of the Jack Martin Halls of Residence and of the purpose built post experience training centre, Radcliffe House (1986). Responsible for:

Job Purpose: The Campus Cleaning Services (CCS) is part of the broader Estates Office whose primary aim is to provide a place of opportunity and inspiration for students, staff, business partners and the local community. As part of the CCS senior management team you will be responsible for shaping and implementing the effective and efficient delivery of the Residential Management with particular focus on cleaning services, specific operational responsibility for all of the on- campus student accommodation. In addition you will support the other CCS Operations Manager to manage cleaning operations across all of the University’s Academic Buildings, Conference Centres, Hotels and Staff & Family accommodation. Leading a team of approximately 400 staff, the post holder will be responsible for the delivery of customer focused, best practice cleaning in alignment with customer and stakeholder requirements. The post holder will ensure first class levels of customer service are delivered within our residences and all statutory obligations within the remit of the role are met in full; and will provide accurate management information and performance analysis to ensure the continual improvement of these services. Duties and Responsibilities Operations • To ensure the best possible cleaning service to all end users (i.e. students, staff, conference delegates and visitors); • To work with the broader estates and commercial teams, Buildings and Facilities Managers to develop and deliver integrated services, working as one team and providing value for money in all activities; • To realise operational and customer service opportunities for improvement, to engage with stakeholders to secure advocacy in the implementation of such initiatives. • To develop immediate and long terms plans to ensure all services are delivered and maintained all year round, and to meet the requirements for key calendar events; • To develop and implement a process of continuous audit and improvement to review operational processes, quality, productivity, and the innovation of the services provided; • To devise and produce specifications of the cleaning requirements for new accommodation buildings to be used within tender processes;

• To continually assess existing operational procedures. To determine what is best-practice across the sector and work with Managers to implement a standardised approach. • To represent CCS as and when required at meetings, in particular wider Estates Strategy Meetings; • To ensure that all cleaning services and equipment are compliant with Health & Safety, COSHH, electrical, fire safety and security measures; • To ensure that financial controls and systems are robust and adhere to the University’s financial policies and procedures; • To develop strong effective relationships with stakeholder departments such as Maintenance, Waste and Recycling etc. to ensure residential students receive effective and efficient service delivery from internal suppliers. • To support sustainability programmes and initiatives to minimise the social and environmental impact of the University and to ensure sustainability impacts are addressed. Management • To support the Finance department by ensuring effective financial management of the budgets delivery against agreed targets, identifying cost savings and cost reduction opportunities; • To work with the Tender & Contracts Manager to support the procurement of products and services for cleaning, laundry, transport and the post room and to ensure the best value for money; • To devise business plans for additional resources for new projects and to present these to the Director of Staff and Student Accommodation, Head of Residences and Campus Cleaning Services, and Finance Manager; • To develop the profile of CCS to achieve a reputation for excellence within the University and across national higher education and hospitality sectors; • To analyse departmental data against national Key Performance Indicators • To effectively manage external contracts and cleaning contractors. Personnel • To lead, manage and improve a team of cleaning staff ensuring knowledge, skills and performance achieves the BICS (British Institute of Cleaning) standard; setting objectives, delivering training needs and performance management; • In conjunction with HR, to lead on appraisal, promotion, discipline, absence management, staff selection and appointment; • • To ensure full induction and training of all staff, and retraining of existing staff as and when required; • To ensure all staff comply with the relevant safe working practices, regulations and legislation.

REQUIREMENTS The post holder must be able to demonstrate:

Degree in hospitality or equivalent experience or Qualification in hotel managem

Significant experience at senior level in facilities management preferably in a Stu hospitality sector in a large multi-site operation

Experience of working in student accommodation function in an HE environment

Proven track record of delivering service excellence and customer satisfaction, s and managing change Managing and controlling budget / resources and an understanding of financial m contribute to business planning Strong leadership skills with the ability to support, influence, persuade and motiv Have experience of working in an effective Health Safety culture in line with legis
