62. 1954 Topps #128 Hank Aaron (HOF RC) - PSA EX+ 5.5
61. 1954 Wilson Franks Ted Williams (HOF) - SGC VG/EX+ 4.5 Mantle’s second year Topps card has been feeling the hobby love of late, and while this SGC 60 example may not qualify for an appearance on The Bachelorette , it sure looks like a winner. Well proportioned, border-wise, only a slight bit of wear is evident on the Mick’s cap, while the red nameplate exhibits light wear in the lower right corner. The image is strong and the registration can’t be beat, a sweet combination to be sure. The reverse is very clean and the overall look is pleasing to the eye. Topps hit one out of the park with this card in ‘53 and now you can haul it in. 60. 1953 Topps #82 Mickey Mantle (HOF) - SGC EX 5 MINIMUM BID: $2,000
Wonderfully bright example of one of the key postwar rookie cards, presented here in a PSA EX+ 5.5 holder. Aaron, who needs no introduction, looks impossibly young here as Topps captured him in their classic 1954 set just as he embarked on his inaugural season in major league baseball. The orange background is vivid, as is the blue Milwaukee cap atop his head and the colors all practically scream they are so strong.
The image on front has a slight bias to the upper right, with a nice, period rough cut along the left side obverse, with corner wear consistent with the grade. The reverse also has strong color, with that beautiful, verdant green dominating, as it should. A classic card from a classic set!

63. 1957 Topps #10 Willie Mays (HOF) - PSA NM-MT 8
The 1954 Wilson Franks issue remains a well-made, well- collected and well-remembered regional set, featuring a mix of superstars and journeyman players of the day. Notoriously hard to find in top condition due to the cards having direct contact with the product, for the entire 20 card set zero 10’s and nine straight 9’s show in the PSA pop report and other than a single 9, nothing exceeding 8.5 via SGC’s records. Even tougher are the white bordered cards, a small subset that includes Ted Williams
They Say Hey Kid shines on a wonderfully composed 1957 Topps card. The PSA 8 grade is well-deserved, as bright colors and excellent registration come together in a merger of equals. The corners are superb, as are the edges all around and the back just jumps out at you. And how about that Polo Grounds background! This card was con- signed from a collection of cards purchased ungraded several de- cades ago by our consignor with the guidance of a well-known hobby veteran and former dealer and auctioneer who brought our
and which give the illusion of having full bleed borders as a result. And the result is stunning, with Williams in a classic shot, the color popping against the field of white and offering tremendous eye appeal. This SGC 4.5 is a nice one and presents strongly for the grade. The corners show matched and fairly minimal wear, with some very minor chipping on the right border, while the reverse is clean on this lightly handled card. The key to the set, this is a card any collector would be proud to own and display.
consignor to a card show to pick out some special examples. The shopping spree took place long before the era of grading, and this card had remained encased in lucite until we received it this sum- mer. A fantastic example, freshly re-entering the hobby after sitting out the birth and subsequent explosion of the grading industry.
