1949 5 GAME SERIES YANKEES WIN, 4-1
T he 1949 series might have been the least dramatic of the sev- en these two teams played. In the first game, Tommy Henrich broke up a scoreless tie with a walk-off home run off Dodger rookie Don Newcombe. Remarkably, this was the first walk-off home run in World Series history. New- combe allowed just five hits, but fell to Allie Reynolds’ two-hit shutout. The Dodgers returned the favor in Game 2 with a 1-0 victory of their own, Preacher Roe besting Vic Raschi.
