BLASTING & EXPLOSIVES
Precision technology drives smarter blasting as Enaex Bright ecosystem advances digital mining
Successful Bright Scan deployments at Tharisa and UMK demonstrate how Enaex Africa’s growing digital ecosystem is improving visibility, quality control and operational decision making across drilling and blasting operations.
A s mining companies increasingly look to technology to improve productivity, safety and operational efficiency, digital solutions are playing a critical role in helping operations make faster, more informed decisions. Enaex Africa is responding to this shift through Enaex Bright, an integrated digital ecosystem designed to strengthen visibility, quality assurance and decision making across drilling and blasting operations. The ecosystem brings together Bright Scan, Bright Fleet, Bright Care and Bright Blast, creating a connected digital environment through which operational data can be captured, analysed and transformed into actionable insights. At the centre of Enaex Africa’s current digital expansion in South Africa is Bright Scan, which has already been successfully deployed at Tharisa Mine and UMK Mine. Bright Scan provides mining teams with a centralised view of drilling and blasting activities, enabling operations to compare engineering designs with actual field execution. By integrating information from across the blasting value chain, the platform helps identify deviations early and strengthens quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes. “The mining industry has evolved from simply collecting data to leveraging actionable insights that drive better operational
outcomes,” says Fabian Jadue, Managing Director, Sales and Mining Services at Enaex Africa. “Today’s operations require greater visibility and the ability to make informed decisions quickly. The Enaex Bright ecosystem is designed to provide that capability by connecting critical operational information and helping customers improve blasting performance, quality control and operational efficiency.” Through Bright Scan, operations managers can monitor loading activities, track the GPS location of Smart MMU units and evaluate drilling and loading accuracy against planned blast designs. This visibility helps teams identify over or under drilling, loading inconsistencies and other deviations before they affect downstream production outcomes. The response from the South African mining sector has been particularly positive following the introduction of Bright Scan’s external dashboard, which simplifies complex operational information and presents it in an accessible format for customers and site management teams. A key benefit is the platform’s ability to generate consolidated reports comparing planned versus actual execution, including drill hole depths and explosives loading. These insights support continuous improvement, stronger operational accountability and more informed decision making across blasting activities. n
