Peterborough – Onwards and upwards

Paul Mossom came to Pirtek in the early ‘90s after 14 years as an aircraft engineer, working on Harriers, among other aircraft at RAF Wittering and overseas. Having left the services, he wanted to move into hydraulics servicing and spent two years at a now defunct competitor before taking a step up to work for Pirtek as an MSST. Paul had spent 15 months on the vans when he got the opportunity to become a centre manager in 1995.

He took to the job naturally, saying, “I really enjoy my role as a centre manager.” The technology has changed over the years he says, recalling how they used to use two-way radios to communicate with MSSTs, giving them about one minute to explain the job before being cut off. “Jobs were recorded on pen and paper,” he says, “Everything’s electronic now, all iPads and the rest.

“When I started at Pirtek, the business was very specific. We would go out on site and simply change a hose. “The company has come on leaps and bounds, ever improving. We have a far broader range of services in fluid transfer systems now, including things like Total Hose Management.” On working for Pirtek, Paul says, “Pirtek UK gives us good backup and I’ve got a very good boss in John. It is very satisfying to make somebody’s problem disappear.”
