A clear business strategy and growth of e-commerce and online business will ensure continued success and growth of the company.

WESCO WILL ENDEAVOUR TO SERVICE ITS EVER-INCREASING CUSTOMER BASE IN NEW MARKETS AS THE ELECTRICAL INDUSTRY CONTINUES TO EVOLVE… Bright future ahead

T he company has ambitious plans going forward to build on the success and growth of the past 50 years. A clear business strategy and growth of e-commerce and online business will play a crucial part in the continued success and growth of the business. Niall explained: “We have a very clear business strategy moving forward, built on the foundations that has made Wesco successful over the last 50 years. As a company, we are constantly looking to improve and adapt to the market needs of our customers. We have taken steps in the background to ensure that the business is in a position to be flexible without compromising on our ethos of quality products and service.” The growth of e-commerce and online business is an area where Wesco and The Light House have

been looking to capitalise on in recent years. Sarah McArdle who works for Wesco in marketing explained: “We are very excited to be working on expanding our online presence to deliver our superior service and quality products to customers and businesses all around Ireland. “It is important to us to keep up to date with the rapidly changing online world, and my goal is working to ensure that Wesco is known not only locally but also online. The Wesco Instagram and Facebook are being used as an informational hub to attract new customers. You will find infographics, video content and real customer project pictures to illustrate the huge range of products we have in-store and online.” Wesco Electrical and The Light House are currently transitioning through a changing of the guard phase which is being well managed.

Managing Director, Ann Owens commented: “As we celebrate 50 years in business, we’ve also had to negotiate a lot of change. One of our key strengths is our staff and their loyalty, which has meant that we had several very key employees all retire within a few short years. Thankfully we have been able to plan around this and recruit talent to come in and work alongside so many of our existing long-serving staff members”. The most challenging period for any family-owned business is the transition period when the next generation takes over. Careful succession planning by the directors of Wesco ensured that when Managing Director, Matt Curran and Financial Director, Jean Callaghan were retiring, their successors were hired and in place almost a year in advance to help smooth the transition when almost 100 years of experience is leaving.
