HACKER ATTACK HITS PARAMEDICINE PROGRAM

Prescott-Russell’s paramedicine service took action to protect itself from an attempted breach of its cybersecurity setup. Marc-André Périard, chief of paramedics and United Counties of Prescott-Russell (UCPR) emergency services director, issued BOPUJDF/PWFNCFSBCPVUiDZCFSTFDVSJUZ incident” within the infrastrucure of the UCPR Paramedic Services’ information technology service provided. «The service provider is still working on the system,» said Périard during a Friday fol- low-up phone interview. The security breach has affected other paramedic services in other parts of Ontario. The attempted cybersecurity breach has resulted in a temporary and voluntary shutdown of the electronic health record management system that deals with the UCPR Paramedic Services’ community paramedicine program. This program provides at-home call ser- vice by paramedics for people who need blood tests and other follow-up diagnostic services but may not be able to see their family doctor or go to the nearest medical or hospital clinic for the procedures. Shutting down the electronic health record management system means that the UCPR Paramedic Services does not have access to its appointments calendar data file for people scheduled for paramedic visits.

La télé communautaire de Clarence- Rockland, TVC22, se remet sur la bonne voie avec l’embauche d’une nouvelle di- rectrice générale, Renée Gratton, après avoir passé tout près de la fermeture. Les problèmes ont commencé en 2020, lorsque l’ex directrice générale Stéphanie Simard a quitté son poste. « Après plusieurs années, la station ne peut pas compétition- ner avec le gouvernement ou une entreprise plus fortunée, a expliqué Bernard Paquet, président du conseil d’administration. Mme Simard était due pour un nouveau défi, donc elle est partie. » Depuis 2020, trois directeurs généraux différents ont étés employés et ont quitté leur poste chez TVC22. Au niveau du conseil d’administration, neufs membres ont quitté leur poste, incluant les trois directeurs généraux. Le problème de ressources humaines ne touche pas que l’administration. « Les techniciens aussi ont des offres dans les télévisions ou au gouvernement, a ajouté M. Paquet. C’est sûr que les revenus diminués à cause de la Covid, ça nous a affecté, mais c’est vraiment les départs précipités. » Depuis mars 2022, TVC22 a dû arrêter toute la programmation de la station sauf le bingo. La station couvrait, avant 2020, toutes les réunions du conseil municipal de Clarence-Rockland ainsi que des Comtés unis de Prescott et Russell. La station diffu- sait aussi plusieurs émissions de variétés et de nouvelles locales. La station a aussi pensé à annuler le bingo télévisé pendant un certain temps. « C’est une machine à sous mais dans les derniers mois on a fait des pertes », a affirmé M. Paquet. D’après Gilles Chartrand, le second sur la chaine de commande de la station, 80% des membres de la station participent au bingo. Si TVC22 cancelle la diffusion du bingo, elle risque de perdre 80% de ses membres. Une nouvelle DG L’arrivée de la nouvelle directrice géné- rale Renée Gratton, à la fin septembre, a amené un vent de changement à TVC22.

Déjà, des nouvelles idées de programmation sont en liste. « C’est sûr que c’est encore délicat, a souligné Mme Gratton. On est en meilleure position qu’avant mais il faut être très créatif. » L’embauche d’une nouvelles DG a entrai- né Vidéotron à se réengager, pour l’année 2023, à diffuser les programmes de TVC22. La programmation de TVC22 devra être à 60% du contenu original dans un nombre de catégories différentes. Au moment pré- sent, la programmation de la chaine de télé est surtout composée d’emprunts à MAtv Outaouais et du babillard de nouvelles. Pour recommencer à offrir une program- mation complète, la station devra embaucher une équipe de technicien à temps plein. /ÊBONPJOT MBQÊOVSJFEFNBJOEVWSF touche tous les secteurs, incluant la pro- duction télévisuelle. C’est pourquoi nous avons la cer- titude que c’est en se rendant à la source, à la racine de ces violences, que guérison et transformation seront possibles. Les membres du comité local d’actions GÊNJOJTUFT MF$FOUSFEFGFNNFTMFT6OFT FUMFT"VUSFT MB.BJTPOE"SJBOF MF$FOUSF d’aide et de lutte contre les agressions à caractère sexuel - CALACS L’Ancrage, le Centre de la famille du Grand Saint-Jérôme
et Droit et Recours Laurentides) s’unissent dans l’action et invitent la population à par- ticiper aux 12 jours d’actions contre les violences faites aux femmes. Comment participer? Porter le ruban blanc et allumer une chandelle à sa fenêtre à 18h durant ces 12 jours d’actions permet de souligner notre solidarité envers toutes les femmes et de signifier que la violence doit cesser. Des rubans blancs seront également partagés avec la population via des com- merçants, organismes et institutions de
Saint-Jérôme. De plus, des publications spécifiques, sous forme de vidéos, textes ou photos, seront partagées chaque jour sur la page Facebook du CLAF, et ce, du 25 novembre au 6 décembre. Les 12 jours d’actions 2022 ont comme principal objectif de mettre en lumière la banalisation et la récurrence des discriminations genrées. Pour déraciner leurs origines et redon- ner aux femmes discriminées le pouvoir de s’exprimer. Au Québec, la campagne de sensibilisation se déroule du 25 novembre au 6 décembre. Aujourd’hui, bien que la parole se délie, les violences demeurent. L’accès aux services obstrue encore le parcours de nombreuses personnes. Sur le terrain, nous constatons qu’aucun droit ou autre forme de protection, que nous avons obtenus grâce aux luttes antérieures, ne peuvent être pris pour acquis. Encore tellement d’obstacles, de discrimination et d’inégalités affectent les personnes à la croisée des oppressions, les violentent, les fragilisent voire les tuent.

and Tallman. After the dust settled, the Nats gave up three more powerplays, allowing the Colts to capitalize and put one away to make it 4-1. A late powerplay goal from captain Yanic Crête in the third brought the Nats closer but the final score was still in favour of the Colts, 4-2. At home against the Navan Grads the following Friday, the Nats held the top team to 0-0 for the first two periods, despite serving 18 minutes of penalties in the first. The home side opened up the scoring in with a mid-period goal from Nicolas White, his 13th goal of the season. However, Navan quickly returned the favour with two of their own before a final minute empty net goal to finish the game 3-1 for the Grads. The Nats will be looking forward to a double-header this weekend against the last place Nepean Raiders who have only won four of their 18 games. They will face off first at home on Friday, then travel to Nepean for the Sunday match-up.
The Nats could not stay out of the penalty box this week and now find themselves hovering above last place after dropping points to Navan and Cornwall over the weekend, adding to a four-game losing streak. Heading to Cornwall on Thursday, November 17, the Nats might have been expecting an easy win against the Colts who sat beneath them in the table, but the home team was looking for the win from the outset. Three goals in the first period set the tone for the Colts, with just one on the board for the Nats thanks to Patrick Lanthier. The second period was marred by penal- ties after a roughing call on the Nats’ Kellen Dostaler kicked off a fight between him and the Colt’s Kobe Tallman. Six more penalties came of the altercation, including 10 minutes in the box for game misconduct for Dostaler

Going undefeated in the regular season, the St. Francis Xavier (SFX) senior A girl’s basketball team competed in the Eastern Ontario Secondary School Athletics Association (EOSSAA) tournament in Brockville last week. Making a deep run in the tournament, the girls came fourth after a hard fought semi-final loss. This was SFX’s fifth girls championship in a row and fifth consecutive trip to EOSSAA. - photo provided

SMITH, Deborah Deborah B. Smith (nee Mahood) passed away suddenly in Rockland, on November 15 th , from heart failure at the age of 63. She is survived by her loving family: husband of 39 years, Peter; children Matthew (Rebecca) and Kassie (Kristen), grandchildren Dylan, Gryphon and Bohdi; brother Gary, sisters Donna, Ethel, Janice (John), Karen, Paula (Bill); sisters-in-law Judy Mahood and Donna Jackson; many nieces and nephews. Debbie was predeceased by her parents, Keith and Frances; brothers Alan, Jim, Doug and Stephen. A celebration of life will be held at a time yet to be determined.
