crete. Guess what will happen when I turn on the fan. • “The piece of cotton will be the first to move.” We w ill turn on the fan and see whether you are right. Yes, the cotton moves first, and next the cork. The concrete is not moved at all. As I look at these three objects, .1 am reminded of three kinds of Chris tians. I am sorry to say that there are some who are like the piece of cotton and are moved by every wind of Satan. There are others, who like the cork, do not move as quickly as the cotton, but if the winds of ad versity continue, they, too, are moved. I am glad to say that there are others, who, like this piece of con crete, remain unmoved regardless of the winds of temptation. Paul realized that there was a danger of our not being steadfast, and he w r o t e : “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmova^le, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord” (1 Cor. 15:58). Once Peter was a man easily moved by every wind of adversity, but the time came when he wrote, “Ye there fore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, be ing led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stead fastness” (2 Pet. 3:17).

that was true.

“You’re the man who gives us those good apples from your orchard,” John added. That was true also.. “Mr. Harrington,” Harold said slowly, “you’re the mayor of this whole town!” Hamid had l e a r n e d something: Mr. Harrington had a special position. There could be only one mayor at any time, though there could be many fathers, and many kind men who would give good things to children. Years earlier, the friends of the Lord Jesus had to learn the same kind of lesson. LESSON STORY: “Jesus... asked his disciples... Whom do men say that I, the Son of man, am?” (v. 13; read the answer in v. 14). John the Baptist had been a great preacher (Matt. 3)—but there were other great preachers. Elias, or Elijah, had led the people in trusting God in a special way—but other leaders had done that, too. Jeremiah had felt so sorry for the people’s sins that he had cried but other men also had felt sorry for sin. No, the Lord Jesus was not John the Baptist, nor Elijah, nor Jeremiah, nor any of the prophets,' th&ugh He was a great preacher, and a great miracle-worker, and a loving friend. More than all these, He is the ONE Saviour that everybody needs. Peter had the right answer when he said, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God” (v. 16). Object Lesson C o t t o n , C o r k , a n d C o n c r e t e OBJECTS: A piece of cotton, a cork, a piece of concrete, and an electric fan. LESSON: You will notice that I have1 placed on the table in front of the fan three different things—a piece of cotton, a cork, and -a tiiM of con
