King's business - 1944-11

How much time have r spent each day talking to Him? How much time have I given to Him to let Him talk with me through His Book? We want to remember the things that our friends say to us. Have I remembered or hid den away in my heart any of the things I have found in His love letter, the Bible, or have I been playing with these things and placing everything else in life first? Has this been a good year? How have I treated the Lord Jesus Christ? That fine young fellow Isaiah con fesses: “In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord.” Don’t you suppose Isaiah’s life may have been so wrapped up with king Uzziah that he did not have much time for the Lord? Was he so busy trying to please the king that he had failed to please the King of kings? Have I been doing the same? A young Chinese farmer would come in,to, a certain city to preach each Sunday. He was poor, but he loved Jesus Christ. His testimony was so true and strong that the city church asked him to move to the city and become their pastor. They pro mised to set him up in a little business as Well. This took place and for some time the young man had a wonderful ministry in the church, but as his business grew, he became too busy to spend time with the Lord and to pre-' pare for ’Sunday. Later he was too rushed to be the pastor, and then he stopped even coming to church. Was it a good year for him? No, for he had put the love of money ahead of Jesus Christ. But the story doesn’t end there, for in'two short hours fire swept all his wealth away. God who had given, knew also how to take away. In this time of war many are too busy making money to have time for Jesus Christ. Haves I been that way? III. HAVE I LOVED THE WORLD? Some of the saddest words in the Bible are: “ For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world” (2 Tim. 4:10). Demas was a young Christian who traveled with Paul on evangelistic trips. But the devil kept whispering to him that he was mis sing so much, and soon he swung from his Christian life and went back into the world of sin. Was it a good year for him? The saddest person in the world is a Christian living in sin. Where am I at the close of the year? Has there been some person, some thing, some sin that has marred my vision of II. HAVE I PUT THINGS AHEAD OF CHRIST?

Jesus Christ and has taken away the happiness of the Christian life? Then I must tell Him and make it right. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and ■ just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteous ness” (1 John 1:9). Conclusion Now we face a new year. Why not say with the Apostle Paul: “Thife one thing I do, forgetting thos e things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus” ?
