He fled the area after he was unable to obtain an y m one y , according to Cornwall police. He is charged with robber y with a fire- ar m , pointing a firear m , use of firear m while co mm itting an offence, possession of weapons for a dangerous purpose, pos- session of a firear m while prohibited, break and enter, disguise with intent, breach of a probation order, and failing to co m pl y with a recognizance. Bradle y Mondoux, 19 of Cornwall, was ar- rested the sa m e da y as the atte m pted rob- ber y after turning hi m self in to Cornwall police. He also is accused of kicking in his ac- quaintance’s door and pointing a hand gun while de m anding m one y , then fleeing after co m ing up e m pt y -handed. Earthquake rattles region

The earth shook in the early morning last Wednesday, and although it wasn’t strong enough to rattle most Cornwall and area residents from their sleep, in did cause a buzz on social media websites. A 4.5 m agnitude earthquake struck about 19 m inutes after m idnight 21 kilo m etres west-northwest of St-H y acinthe, Que. The quake was felt in the Greater Montre- al area and in Ottawa, according to earth- quakes Canada. People in the western Quebec seis m ic zone adjacent to Ontario has felt s m all earthquakes and suffered da m age fro m larger tre m ors for m ore than three centu- ries, according to the U.S. Geological Surve y . A m agnitude 6.1 earthquake occurred in 1935 at the northwestern end of the seis m ic zone, and a 6.2 m agnitude quake occurred in 1732 at the southeastern end of the zone where it caused significant da m age in Mon- treal, according to the USGS. The last m ajor earthquake to strike Corn- wall was a 5.8 m agnitude tre m or in 1945.
