Le Jamboree Country prendra l’affiche à Clarence Creek

Le festival Jamboree country de Clarence- Rockland réserve une brochette d’artistes variés pour sa première édition. Soucieux d’offrir un festival bilingue de qualité et de se distinguer des autres festivals déjà établis, le président Eric Michael Hawks amènera des artistes venus tout droit de Nashville. Le festival aura lieu à l’aréna de Clarence Creek, du 18 au 23 juillet 2017, et commen- cera avec une messe country. Durant la semaine des festivités, les amateurs auront le loisir de stationner leur caravane tout près et de prendre part à certaines activités organisées à leur intention. D’ailleurs, l’achat du forfait weekend leur donnera droit au camping gratuit. La Cité de Clarence-Rockland se joint au festival pour sa première édition. « C’est un beau coin et c’est tout à notre avantage. C’est pour ça qu’on embarque et qu’on essaie d’aider comme on peut. En fait de budget, on est limité, mais on a donné ce qu’on pou- vait. On va tout faire pour que ça marche », a souligné le maire de Clarence-Rockland Guy Desjardins. La contribution de la Ville leur a d’ailleurs permis d’économiser sur certains aspects, tels que les frais de location de salle, et de se concentrer sur la partie spectacle. En plus des groupes hommage à Johnny Cash, Dwight Yoakam, Elvis Presley ou Stompin’ Tom, le festival accueillera le duo Georgette Jones et BrianMallery, venu directement de Nashville. Georgette Jones, surnommée la princesse du country américain, est égale- ment la fille des artistes légendaires George Jones et Tammy Wynette. The days are getting longer and, at times, just a little bit warmer. Soon the snowwill be gone and the classic cars will start rolling out onto the highways and byways, just in time for another annual Cruise Nights summer-long celebration in Rockland. Since they took over organizing and coor- dinating the annual Cruise Nights show ‘n’ shine summer fest for car collectors and those who like cars of all sorts, Mike and Jennifer Séguin have been brainstorming how to make the annual auto show even more fun for both participants and visitors. “This year we’re going to host four major shows,” Mike Séguin said, “and we’re going to have special sponsors for each show.” The plan is to schedule the Cruise Night specials for the first Tuesday of June, July, August and September.The Rockland Plaza will continue to be the venue for the summer car show because of both, the space avai- lable in the big parking lot and the support shown for the event by plaza owners and the businesses located there. The first Cruise Night Special will be dedi- cated to Jean-Luc and Louise Martin, the founders of Rockland Cruise Nights, and the ones who began the annual summer event with two goals in mind: to provide a venue for car lovers to show off their wheels and GREGG CHAMBERLAIN gregg.chamberlain@eap.on.ca

Avec son expérience de studio à Nash- ville, ses tournées et ses deux albums, l’au- teur-compositeur-interprète Éric Michael Hawks n’est pas sans connaître les rodages des festivals de la même saveur, auxquels il participe chaque été. C’est avec son bagage d’expérience et son entourage que l’artiste entend offrir une semaine mémorable et remplie de surprises. « Clarence Creek, c’est ma ville natale puis je veux faire quelque
chose de spécial », a précisé Éric Michael Hawks. Pour s’assurer d’une bonne visibilité, le Jamboree country fait partie du Regroupe- ment de festivals country-western-folklo- rique (RFCWF). Il se retrouvera donc sur l’itinéraire d’une foule d’amateurs de ce style musical. « Ça va amener une population dans notre coin, ça va nous faire connaître », a précisé le maire Desjardins.
En effet, le RFCWF présente un circuit de 60 à 70 festivals, dont le festival de Wendo- ver, qui est présenté la semaine précédente. Selon l’organisateur, il existe un grand bassin d’artistes sur lemarché afin d’assurer la plus grande variété aux amateurs. « Les artistes ne se répètent pas. Tout ce que je veux, c’est offrir un bon festival et que tout le monde soit content », a conclu Eric Michael Hawks.

to help support the community food bank. The Séguins noted that part of the pro- ceeds from the first Cruise Night Special will go to the May Court Hospice facility in Ottawa. Otherwise the main focus of the summer event will continue to be supporting the community food bank program through
raffles, food collections, and other activities. Both of the Séguins emphasized that the success of Rockland Cruise Nights, marking its 10th anniversary this year, is due to efforts of theMartins, the participation of car buffs, and the support of both local businesses and a large volunteer force.
“We have really great sponsors,” added Mike Séguin. “And volunteers are really the core of any good project,” concluded Jennifer Séguin. Anyone interested in volunteering to help with the Rockland Cruise Nights project can email rocklandcruisenights@bell.net.
