ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY AT FLEMINGTON
As a globally recognised event, the Victoria Racing Club (VRC) acknowledges its impact on the surrounding environment. During the 2019 Melbourne Cup Carnival, the VRC and its sustainability partner, Incognitus, achieved the following results:
30,000 single use plastic cups were eliminated in The Club Stand through the use of reusable drinking glasses
42 tonnes of food waste was diverted from landfill and used to create green energy which was sold back to the grid.
100 tonnes of construction and demolition waste was repurposed by the RSPCA, Men’s Sheds and Community Partners.
