ENVIRONMENT SUSTAINABILITY AT FLEMINGTON
In 2019, the Victoria Racing Club (VRC) and its sustainability partner Incognitus, recognised the challenges faced by the waste industry. Through innovation and a renewed focus, the VRC achieved the following results during the 2019 Melbourne Cup Carnival:
A 600% increase in the collection of cardboard for recycling was achieved compared to MCC 2018
Innovative building techniques completely eliminated construction waste from iconic marquee builds
75% diversion from landfill in The Domain through sustainability best practice
100% of all recyclable material captured across the racecourse was accepted for recycling
