was amazing. As soon we were pronounced husband and wife, people cheered, and my own tears began. We walked out to Micheal Jackson and Justin Timberlake’s Love Never Felt So Good – and it didn’t! We danced all the way down the aisle with our guests following behind and out into the air as a steel band started. Luckily the rain held off for an hour while our guests enjoyed a drinks reception and David and I had photos taken, then we all headed indoors for a delicious wedding breakfast and speeches including a brilliant one by my new husband! Party mode We had our first dance to Angel by Rick Hasani which was such a highlight. David and I had taken some dance classes so it was choreographed, and the children joined us halfway through which was such a beautiful moment and could only be topped by the fireworks at 9.30pm which were spectacular. Set to We Fell In Love by Calvin Harris and Rhianna they featured a huge heart with D and D – good choice David! The end of a perfect day The partying went on until the small hours after which we headed to our suite at the Hilton Hotel across the road from the venue. Many of our guests stayed over too, and the next morning David and I woke up and put on our matching husband-and-wife T shirts which got a laugh and helped with the hangovers! Mum and dad had generously gifted us a mini break to Stratford Upon Avon and following that we had a glorious familymoon in Jamaica with the kids. David’s dad had been born there, so it had a special meaning, and we had the most amazing time. After all these years together saying the words husband and wife feels so lovely. I am surprised at how the wedding has brought us even closer than we already were. It really was the icing on the cake!
dresses but let them choose the style that suited them. Putteridge Bury had recommended The Flower Girl for my flowers and the Sparkle Shed for our room décor. It was the Sparkle Shed who introduced us to our photographer Lorna Newman. We loved her work, met her, and clicked instantly. Finally, as we were set on a very relaxed fun day for our 95 guests which included lots of children, we ordered games and a steel band. The Big Day arrives On the morning of the wedding, I got ready at my mum and dads house with my bridesmaids. Davids’s mum joined us too as sadly David’s dad had passed away, so it was important for us that she was a big part of the proceedings. David was busy getting ready at our house with his groomsmen. My dad had booked a lovely old car to take him and I to the venue, and though it was a stormy day, windy and raining, it didn’t dampen our spirits. The ceremony was set for 1.30pm and it turned out to be just perfect! A break from tradition In a break from tradition, we decided that the flower girls, bridesmaids, and groomsmen would all walk down the aisle together, in front of David and his mum and my mum with the best man. My dad walked in last with me on his arm as a saxophonist and a pianist played Can You Feel The Love Tonight from the Lion King. My dad was tearful despite the swig of whisky from Davids’s hipflask. I’m the youngest and it was the family’s first big wedding, so it was really emotional, but it was the children who really made the tears flow. They were amazing and blew us away as they read a poem they’d written between them. As for David and I, we wrote our own Disney inspired vows which ended with the words To infinity and beyond! which we also had engraved in our rings. After all those years to finally be married
