Two New Publications Register Growth Tw o attractive magazines, “The Thresh­ ing Floor” and “ The Good News Letter,” both edited by Burt L. Rice, 963 E. Green St., Pasadena, Calif., have had a remark­ able growth in popularity. The symposium on the subject of the Holy Spirit, begun in the April number of “ The Threshing Floor,” has brought so much correspondence that Mr. Rice has decided to reopen the discussion for a period of five months, beginning with the September number. It is expected that many leading scholars and evangelists will contribute to this in­ teresting series, and that as a result the doctrine concerning the Third Person of the Trinity may be more clearly understood by many earnest readers. Word has been received that Mrs. Roberts and the children continued by steamer to Hongkong, where they were to be met by Mr. Roberts. From Biola’ s Mail Box H ARRY O. ANDERSON, ’IS, after a summer of evangelistic ministry in Baptist churches in Oregon, went to Oxnard, Calif., where he, Mrs. Anderson, and Earl Longfellow were en­ gaged in citywide meetings during the latter part of the month of August. Following the work in Oxnard, they were scheduled for services in Texas, Pennsylvania, and Ore­ gon. Mr. Anderson writes: “ It has been suggested by many of our friends that we enlarge the scope and work of our Society to include other fellowships interested in promoting evangelism. The name “ Ameri­ can Society for Evangelism” has been submitted and approved by the council members. W ill you not pray that God will continue to bless this nationwide evangelis­ tic movement as we enter this larger field of service and help meet the urgent need of a revival ?” The address of the Society is 6198 Springvale Dr., Los Angeles, Calif. Walter Regier, ’36, has been attending Bethel College in Newton, Kans., and has been active in gospel team work. L. Llewellyn and Mrs. Grubb (Janice M. Swaney, ’33), who were married in July, are living in Rittman, Ohio, where Mr. Grubb is pastor of the First Brethren Church. Mary Froese, ’28, Herbert, Sask., Can., visited Biola in August. With Mrs. Frank J. Martens (Mary L. Karber, ’33), Miss Froese was in charge of a missionary prayer band from which the “ Gospel of

Coloneus, ’32, Assistant Director of Religious Education in the Immanuel Presbyterian Church of Los Angeles, has completed her fifth year of service in the church and has been granted a leave of absence from her work to make an extended visit in England and on the continent. She plans to leave San Pedro on October 9. She can be addressed in care of Thomas Cook and Sons, London, Eng. George Chase has been serving as pastor of a Baptist church in Prineville, Ore. Mary Bishop, ’25, of the Central Ameri­ can Mission, has returned with her father, A. E. Bishop, on furlough and has been living at 118)4 S. Ave. 24, Los Angeles, Calif. Frank E. (’28) and Mrs. Manning (Au­ gusta Balzer) and their little daughter Grace, of the Africa Inland Mission, have been stationed at Nansio, Ukerewe Island, Mwanza, Tanganyika Territory, E. Africa, where Mr. and Mrs. Manning have been opening a station in a tribe where the language is distinctly different from the trade language usable in work in neighbor­ ing tribes. Donald A. ( ’28) and Mrs. Fairley (’28), Mission Evangelique, Mouila par Port Gentil, Gabon, French Equatorial Africa, are members of the Christian and Missionary Alliance. In itinerant preaching in distant villages, Mr. Fairley uses stereopticon slides and a carbide lantern to teach the Word. Mr. and Mrs. Fairley have three children. Mrs. Frank S.
