P aul Collins, Company Director of Marlfield Construction Ltd and a joiner by trade, beat off competition from across Northern Ireland to win the Tradesperson of the Year award after being nominated by a client who was impressed with his workmanship and attention to detail. Paul’s client said he treated everyone - clients, colleagues, sub- contractors and others who came into contact with him - with courtesy and respect and felt that his fair but firm leadership style ensured he got the best results from his team. He was described as “highly competent” with the client adding that she “cannot imagine a better advert for the building trade.” Commenting on his win, Paul said, “I am delighted to receive this award, not only personally but for our whole team at Marlfield as the calibre of entrants were of an exceptional

standard. The win is worth all the efforts of the FMB membership application process to be involved.” This was the third accolade for Newtownards-based, Marlfield Construction, who also won the Kitchen Project and Bathroom Project categories at this year’s FMB
Master Builder Awards. Gavin McGuire, Northern Ireland Director of the FMB, said, “Marlfield Construction, under the award- winning leadership of Paul Collins, champion excellent customer service, and clearly take great pride in creating brilliant builds.”
