Demonstrating excellence in design, construction, project management and stakeholder collaboration, the landmark development has been named Overall Winner for 2026. the supply chain ensured high standards of workmanship, programme certainty and value for money throughout delivery. Health and safety remained a priority throughout construction. More than 2,500 workforce upskilling hours were delivered, with 55% focused on health and safety training, and zero hours were lost due to accident time.

The project demonstrated strong sustainability performance through carbon literacy training, waste management initiatives, environmental awareness programmes and resource- sharing activities with community organisations and SMEs. AMIC successfully managed its public impact, delivering 18 apprenticeships, 37 placement opportunities and 405 volunteering hours. The project actively engaged with schools, colleges, universities and community organisations
construction, while Henry Brothers enhanced buildability by redesigning the reinforced concrete floor construction from tied reinforcement to fibre reinforcement, accelerating programme delivery without compromising structural integrity, durability or finish quality. Client engagement and satisfaction were maintained throughout the project through a collaborative delivery approach. Weekly design and technical coordination meetings ensured close communication between the client, design team, contractor and specialist suppliers. As design developments emerged during construction, the team proactively adapted programme sequencing and technical solutions while maintaining alignment with the client’s objectives. Regular coordination meetings enabled challenges to be identified and resolved efficiently, while close collaboration with
Belfast in partnership with Ulster University and Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council. Located at Global Point Business Park in Newtownabbey, it serves as Northern Ireland’s national centre for advanced manufacturing, providing businesses with access to cutting-edge technology, specialist equipment and industry-leading expertise. The facility includes two engineering halls, clean rooms, laboratories, a 250- seat auditorium, meeting rooms, offices, breakout spaces, a gym and café, alongside EV charging infrastructure, cycle facilities and landscaped external areas. Standout elements of the build included the adoption of innovative construction techniques to ensure the facility met the specialist requirements of advanced manufacturing. Advanced design technology was used within clean room
throughout the project lifecycle. Supporting the creation of 1,500
permanent jobs and the training of 300 apprentices, AMIC leaves a lasting legacy of economic, social and environmental value. The project was completed on time and within budget, opening for use in April 2026.
