In a category which recognises how the use of green technology has enhanced the energy efficiency and sustainability of a project, Alternative Heat Ltd scooped the Green Technology Project of the Year Award for their exceptional work on the Alness Academy Biomass Energy Centre. Utilising BIM modelling and their highly trained, expert team, Banbridge-based Alternative Heat was able to fully design and prefabricate a 1.2MW Biomass Energy Centre at their dedicated production facilities, that was then transported and successfully installed at the Alness Academy in Scotland. Our judges said this project displayed every aspect of ‘green tech’ in terms of its concept, planning, off-site construction

and speedy on-site assembly and commissioning, concluding that Alternative Heat had delivered a 360-degree environmental solution that local people in the Highlands could feel proud of for years to come.

McLaughlin & Woods Ltd scooped the Small Domestic Project of the Year Award for their work on a Derryvolgie garage extension and single storey conversion. Established in 1981 by Tom McLaughlin and Gerard Woods, McLaughlin & Woods Ltd originally operated primarily in the construction industry, before expanding into plumbing and heating in the early 2,000’s. Since then, the company has built an impressive reputation for delivering a high-quality professional service to clients in the greater Belfast area and beyond.
