The Case of the Missing $67 Million Pants In 2008, an administrative law judge in Washington, D.C., sued the owners of a local dry cleaning company, claiming that, not only had they lost a pair of his pants, but they had violated a sign stating “satisfaction guaranteed” posted in their window. Apparently, he was not satisfied, and he really, really needed those pants — to the tune of $67 million. When two Colorado teens decided to bake a huge mess of cookies just for the heck of it and put them on all their neighbors’ doorsteps, they probably figured their neighbors would be grateful for the anonymous deliveries. They dropped the cookies on porches that had lights on, knocked on the door, and ran off, leaving only a note that said “Have a great night. From the T and L Club.” But one woman thought this “T and L Club” indicated something a little more sinister than a couple of teens being overly friendly. You see, she’d been burglarized before, and a mysterious tapping on her door at 10:30 p.m. wasn’t exactly welcome. She called the cops, and the next day, was admitted to the hospital for an anxiety attack. The girls sent an apologetic note along with an offer to pay her medical bills, but this charming lady decided to sue them anyway. She got $900 out of it for her bills.

Parmesan Roasted Cauliflower

Cauliflower doesn’t have to be boring! With a little Parmesan cheese and some seasoning, it can pack a punch of flavor that will please even your most vegetable-averse family members.

Ingredients •

1 head cauliflower

3 tablespoons olive oil

• • •

1 medium yellow onion, sliced

1/2 cup finely grated Parmesan cheese, ideally Parmigiano-Reggiano

4 sprigs thyme

4 garlic cloves, unpeeled

Salt and pepper, to taste

Directions 1. Heat oven to 425 F. 2. Cut cauliflower into florets. On a large baking sheet, toss cauliflower with onions, thyme, garlic, and olive oil. Season with salt and pepper.

3. Roast for 35–40 minutes, tossing occasionally. 4. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and finish roasting, about 10 minutes longer. 5. Serve while hot. Inspired by epicurious.com
