Plumbing and heating engineer Stephen Lambe has been at the top of his game since his apprenticeship days and now runs his own successful business, Heatvision. Judges found his entry demonstrated a broad range of experience and qualifications, and Stephen’s firm has built a reputation for professionalism and high-quality work in a short time. Qualifications include an advanced Craft Certificate in Plumbing and QQI certification to Level 6 across domestic gas safety, domestic heat pump systems, solar photo voltaic systems implementation and business management; to name a few. Stephen began his career in 2009 at the age of 16 with Tritech Engineering and was twice named Apprentice of the Year during his four years with the firm. Obtaining his plumbing qualification, he then joined TRC Plumbing and Heating, specialising in the installation of pipe work and heating systems and collaborating with the Peter McVarry Trust. Under the tutelage of his mentor Mark, Stephen became a heating engineer and after several years told the bold step of establishing his Malahide-based business, which employs a team of five. One community service that Stephen delivers is offering free support for elderly homeowners during the winter, including Christmas Day, to prioritise their wellbeing and comfort.
Heatvision only started operating during the challenging environment of the pandemic, yet has already succeeded in its mission of making a mark in the industry with its commitment to excellence. The panel was impressed by the fledgling firm’s innovative solutions to heating installation, retrofit and upgrade projects, dedication to its craft and strong branding. Team members are equipped with high-quality tools and gear and regularly enrolled in training courses. A previous winner of the category in its first year of trading, Heatvision was subsequently invited to exhibit at the Ideal Home Show, driving expansion of its customer base and team.
