Police seek tailgate thief

Police are asking for help from the public in !nding a thief with a taste for stealing truck tailgates. Sometime during the nights of Oct. 11 and 12, the tailgates went missing on two vehicles in the City of Clarence-Rockland. First vehicle to lose its back end was a grey 2012 Ford pickup truck parked in a driveway in the Labelle Road neighbourhood. !e next night, a 2004 GMC Sierra pickup lost its tailgate while it was parked in a driveway on Du Lac Road. Anyone with information about the thefts

or the whereabouts of the tailgates can call the Crime Stoppers con"dential tips line, toll-free, at 1-800-222-8477. Domestic assault A 26-year-old Rockland man is charged with domestic assault and uttering threats following police investigation of a domestic disturbance call on Oct. 12. A police incident release did not disclose the name of the suspect or the speci"c location of the call other than in the Town of Rockland. !e reason given is to protect the identity of the complainant.

!e charge of uttering threat resulted from information that the suspect was alle- ged to have threatened damage to some personal property of the complainant. !e man is scheduled for the Oct. 28 provincial court session in Cornwall. Impaired charge Jocelyn Allaire, 42, of Casselman, is char- ged with impaired driving and having care and control of a motor vehicle while his blood-alcohol content exceeded 80 milli- grams.!e charges resulted froman Oct. 14 police checkstop in!e NationMunicipality. Allaire is scheduled for the Nov. 4 provincial court session in L’Orignal. Pot possession Mitchell Wright, 21, of Ottawa, is charged

with possession of marijuana following a police roadcheck on Oct. 12 in the City of Clarence-Rockland. A police o#cer noticed a green leafy substance in plain view on the driver’s lap. About eight grams of marijuana was seized. Speed racer braked A 25-year-old L’Orignal man had his dri- ver’s licence suspended for a week on Oct. 13 and his Nissan Maxima impounded for the same period of time after he was charged under the Highway Tra#c Act with stunt racing. !e vehicle was clocked at 145 kilo- metres an hour in a posted 80-kilometre zone.!e driver is scheduled for the Nov. 12 provincial tra#c court session in L’Orignal.

Stephanie Ouellette now belongs to a rare class of nurses in Canada. She has achieved a de Souza ranking for cancer care nursing excellence, the first nurse in the Champlain Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) region to do so, and one of just 18 in Canada designated with such a level of expertise. Dr. Mary Jane Esplen, executive director of the de Souza Institute, announced Ouellette’s achievement in a joint release from the institute and the Winchester District Memorial Hospital (WDMH), where Ouellette is a member of the hospital’s chemotherapy unit since 2010. Ouellette, pictured with Lynn Hall to her right, at the celebration ceremony for her achie- vement, began her de Souza training in 2011, completing a 14-course workload of 181 hours in between her duties with the WDMH oncology unit. – Gregg Chamberlain
