Commitment to human rights
Air Serbia works to translate its policy commitments into everyday practice across the organization, by monitoring the implementation and processing of cases of breaching the internal regulatory policies. Responsibility for applying these commitments is shared between Human Resources, the company's legal function and line management, under the overall accountability of the Executive Board. In practice, policy commitments are embedded through employee awareness of the company's internal rulebooks and the Code of Business Conduct, mandatory Safety Management System (SMS) and Aviation Security (AvSec) training in support of the HSE Policy, and the company's ethics and compliance processes and internal reporting channels.
Where the company identifies negative impacts it has caused or contributed to through its activities, it is committed to providing for, or cooperating in, their remediation. Potential adverse impacts are identified through multiple channels, including internal audits, the handling of complaints and grievances, the whistleblower mechanism and ongoing stakeholder engagement. The company's grievance and reporting mechanisms are accessible to all employees with the main concern begin whether policy commitments are broken. Concerns may be raised through the channels described below and through the company's 24-hour Ethics Line (see section 5.4). The effectiveness of remediation is monitored through the Board of Ethics and other company s regulatory mechanism.
Full respect for internationally recognized human rights guides the way the company conducts its business. This commitment is anchored in the principles set out in the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the core conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO), and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises. In its decision-making, the company applies the precautionary principle, seeking to prevent or minimize potential adverse impacts on people and the environment before they occur. These commitments are formalized through a framework of internal policies and procedures, including but not limited to the Code of Business Conduct, the Equal Opportunity Policy, the Whistleblower Policy, the Notice on the Prohibition of Workplace Harassment, the Sustainable Development Policy and the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Policy, and the Employment Rulebook.
