husband, and it seemed that an opening for spiritual matters would never come. At last I said “Mrs. —:---- , how long have you been a Christian?” “Oh,” she replied, “I am not a Christian, I aip only trying to be one.” “How are you trying?” I asked. “I read my Bible and pray every night, and I try to do right, but I haven’t got to be a Christian yet.” “No, you will never get to be a Christian that way,” I replied, and then opening my Bible to Isa. S3 :6 we discussed the sin question, and she was led to receive Jesus Christ as her Saviour., I can see her bright face yet as she said “You’ll come again real soon and read to me, won’t you?”

“And of some 'have compassion, making a difference; and others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.” We run across so many queer folks, with their queer ideas of reaching heaven! Some men are so hard, and others just won’t yield to Jesus Christ unless their wives come along, too. We have in mind one motorrnan “almost persuaded.” He really wants to be saved, and-is just wretched, but his wife is a backslider and is holding him .back. He will not budge without his wife. Won’t you just lift your heart in behalf of them both, and please God at our next report we may all rejoice together. On the way to a meeting last week, the “con” whispered, “the motorrnan wants to talk with you.” We know its against the rules to talk to motormen on duty, but we were -quite willing to take a chance in order to get him. He did most of the talking, however, so we came .away with an easy conscience and a glad heart, tfor he recalled having met us at a car barn Gospel meeting some weeks before, at which time he asked someone to call oh his wife. One of the Bible Women had been sent and now that the wife had been reached, he wanted to know if I wouldn’t come up and talk to him. He was-cold, tired, hungry and heart­ sick, and like the dove oft old, could find no rest for the sole of his foot in the old world ripening so fast for judgment. It was meet that we should make merry and be glad. The testing for this lad will be severe. Will you not bear him-, up? I had been told that she was a Christian, confined closely to'her home by little chil­ dren, but that she would be glad if some woman would come to see her occasionally and read and pray with her. It was some time before an opportunity occurred, but at last I did what we must always do, made the opportunity. Her surroundings indi­ cated great need, and the theme of her con­ versation was the need of work for her
