Totally Fulfilled

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words I want to share with you a powerful tool that a very dear friend shared with me. It can keep you on track in the midst of adversity. Get a wallet-size picture of someone who is very dear to you—your spouse, children, parents, etc. On the back of the photo, write the three biggest obstacles in your life. Remember to put them in the broader categories as we discussed, like fear of fail- ure, lack of time, and limiting beliefs. Then I want you to look at the picture. Turn it over. Look at the obstacles. Turn it over. Look at the picture. Turn it back. Repeat this at least five times. Now, when you’re faced with one of these three biggest obstacles, pull out that picture, look at it, and then flip it over. Read the obstacle you’re facing out loud. Then flip it back over, and ask yourself out loud, “What’s most important to me: letting the obstacle stop me, or the love I have for (the person or people in the picture)?” This simple strategy could allow you to never look at obsta- cles the same way again. These three simple tools can help you find the answers you are looking for to overcome obstacles you encounter. You will train yourself to be a problem solver. You’ll handle your obstacles head on. While most people avoid, and even run and hide from their fears, you will possess a secret as powerful as rubbing Aladdin’s lamp. Even if it sounds silly to you right now, say this to yourself or better yet, out loud: “I face my obstacles head on.” One more time: “I face my obstacles head on.” Saying things out loud makes a statement to the world. And once you put it out there, it’s easier to stand by your words. Say these out loud and see if any of them spark an empowering emo- tion inside of you. I know they do for me… ! “I have found a way to overcome anything that gets in the way of my life of total fulfillment.”
