Chapter 19. Beware of Other People’s Opinions
Even if Motor Millions had been a total failure, I still would have received the knowledge and experience from it that would have allowed me to go to another level in life. If that never hap- pened, or if I gave up because of what another person said, then I am sure I would not be writing this book for you today. This story is just one of so many in my life that illustrates how focusing on a solution ends with amazing results and life experiences. You need to play this game of life with your rules, not anyone else’s. No matter what it is—your love life, your relation- ships with friends and family, your health, or your emotions—don’t let an unqualified “dream stealer” take away your juice for more out of life. In this chapter it may seem that I took you in circles. I shared with you how important it is to not let unqualified people deter you from reaching your personal goals. I told you how empower- ing it can be to have a mentor or follow the lead of someone who is living life as you would like to live it. Ultimately you need to pick and choose the advice and the people who inspire you, drive you, and encourage you to follow your dreams. I shared with you so many variables because I want you to have the power to immediately identify the people who will lift you up and the others that unknowingly or knowingly may bring you down and halt your growth. When in your heart, you know that you have to try something, I say go for it. In my experi- ence it is better to try and fail and learn a lesson than to not try at all.
