THE KING’S BUSINESS

Fundamentals, and as co-editor of the Mis sionary Review, Dr. Meyer has done a great work, and exerted a mighty influ ence for' the advancement of the Kingdom of Christ. Illness was brought on by over work and constant traveling. Dr. Meyer knows not how to spare himself and has been indefatigable and self-forgetful in his efforts to serve God and his fellowmen.” Bible Women’s Notes A one-time circus girl, then vaudeville, singing, etc., is now a business college girl, saved by the grace of God, clothed and in her right mind, preparing for better things, and has brought joy to our hearts. Bright, keen and attractive, we feel our Lord has a lift of real fruitful service for her, and re joice that her feet are set'in the Way, and that our Bible Woman found her before it was too late. Sometimes the Bible women are sur prised to find how a very small matter, in deed, can hinder the salvation of a soul. In calling, two neighbors were found who declared they were church members and attendants formerly, but for six years had not entered any meeting even, because they felt their infatuation for the picture- shows made a Christian profession impos sible. The Word of God, that two-edged Sword, found the real difficulty and after a short time of definite heart-searching they both yielded their wills to God and were for the first time satisfied. August is the rest month for our Bible Women and they need this “going apart” time for renewing of both physical and spiritual strength. The press of work often crowds the hours overful and there is little time for relaxing or consecutive study. Much “follow up’’ work can be done by letter, and the pen will not be idle. There is no strain harder than that of constant- dealling with sinners, back sliders and other needy souls. The Bible Women would be glad to be assured of the prayers of friends for this service as

well as for the many Bible classes held each week. The fact of a weekly prayer service held in the little room of an apartment house in this city is not widely known, but is strangely interesting. A young woman lies there, so paralyzed that only the movement of the eyes is possible. No word is ut tered by her, no possible way of communi cation, but. by her eyes, helpless and hu manly speaking hopeless. One day she was gently placed in an auto and given a ride in the country. S.uch joy and glad ness shone in those eyes, at the sight of trees and flowers and birds! Now - there is this little weekly prayer meeting in her room and the presence of God is surely there. Was it a mistake when our little Bible Woman found Mrs. B. living in the apart ment designated as belonging to Mrs. A.? No one would have thought so to see the welcome shining in Mrs. B.’s face. She was a stranger in this large city, the prom ised work had not come to her husband and she thought no one cared that thev faced hunger and debt. The husband, re turning dejected and discouraged, was gladdened by sympathy, and taking heart accompanied our visitor on a search for a position of any honest kind. That same day work was found for him, and the hus band, wife and child now recognize their responsibility to God, confess Jesus'as Sa viour and King and are faithful attendants at church. Three letters received by one of our first beloved Bible Women prove the con victing and convincing power of the Wora of God. After a Bible message, given in one of our large churches and a few words spoken personally to an old lady who had been a church member for fifty years, a situation of great moment was revealed. As a young girl this woman was brought into church membership, but she soon discov ered she had not any real saved relation-
