The Lakes South Morang College - Issue 18

Beginning next year, our College will implement a refined protocol for School Pride focussed on professional appearance. Front office administration and PE staff will wear College uniforms, and teaching staff will adhere to a minimum dress code. Furthermore, in line with our community expectations, we will transition towards addressing our educators and school personnel by their surnames. This symbolic change serves as a symbol of our commitment to fostering a professional environment. It underscores the importance of positive working relationships between students, families and teachers while emphasising the distinction that exists between the two, reinforcing the notion that a professional and respectful relationship is paramount. Structurally, our facility enhancements are in line with the transition to a Primary and Secondary College framework. This transition has resulted in a reduction in team - teaching and a greater emphasis on individual subject instruction. As a result, we have introduced sound - reducing partitions to foster a more conducive learning environment. Furthermore, we have championed and made substantial investments in comprehensive professional development programs for our educators and support staff, with the primary goal of promoting ongoing learner growth, engagement, and the facilitation of excellence in specialised subject areas and leadership roles throughout the College. Additionally, we have elevated our student leadership programs, designed to shape the ethos of student collaboration, amplify their voices, and empower authentic agency, setting the stage for a harmonious and purposeful learning environment. 2024 will be very exciting for our students, staff and our College. Our commitment to deliver on our four pillars: Academic Rigour, High Expectation, Positive Culture for Change and School Pride are the keys to our success and we will deliver with fidelity and purpose. Together with School Council and your important support as parents/ carers, we are on this journey together!
