VICTORIAN CODING CHALLENGE CADE, DUNCAN, TRE & JAGGER YEAR 5 & 6 STUDENTS

On Tuesday the 31st of October, a team of seven Year 5 and 6 students went to St Oliver ’ s Primary School in Pascoe Vale, to compete in the second stage of the Victorian Coding Challenge for 2023. We competed in a variety of different coding challenges against other schools. We started with a Halloween themed mathematical challenge which we did in our teams. Then we opened our laptops and completed a series of Scratch coding challenges. After lunch and a play on the playground, we used a barcode scanner to crack a code and had another Scratch challenge, called The Elevator.

“ The best part was the Scratch challenge because it had a variety of different kinds of problems, so everyone could contribute in it and it challenged my thinking of code. ” Cade

“ My favourite part was the Elevator challenge because you had to code to make it hold more people and also make it faster. ” Tre

“ I loved the yummy food, the challenges, playing in the playground and having fun with friends! ” Jagger

“ I enjoyed solving all the problems they gave to us. ” Duncan

Thankyou to Kitty and Emily for taking us to such a great experience. We hope to go again next year!
