We’re Stronger Together

OUR TEAM IS READY TO WORK FOR YOU

s I write this newsletter in mid- April, it’s tough to say whether or not the state of things around the

When I say our team is working twice as hard, I truly mean it. In light of changing times, the entire Dri Tech Corp team has really stepped up to the plate. I’ve written previously in this newsletter about how important teamwork is to us and how we foster it every single day. During a time when teamwork has taken a big hit for many businesses, our team has instead gone above and beyond to exemplify everything teamwork stands for. I couldn’t be more floored by how they’ve been working together. When Nevada’s stay-at-home mandate was issued, every member of our team had the choice to work from home. But even now, months later, every member of our team has chosen to continue working together in our office every day. This may be different from the common practices you hear about with other businesses. It surprised me too. But I’ve come to realize that the Dri Tech Corp team wants to work together in our office because their priority is to be there for one another. They each want to give their teammates the ability to continue doing their work so they can provide for their families during these hard times. We stand strong by standing together. Little by little, this pandemic is bringing people’s true character to the surface. In some ways, that’s good; in others, it’s bad. But I’m so humbled to discover that the true character of the Dri Tech Corp team shows that when times get tough, we rally the troops, have hard conversations, provide meaningful solutions, and get the job done. Change has thrown us

world might finally be on the up and up. That’s certainly my hope because for many, times are tough. At Dri Tech Corp, we’re facing these tough times head-on and still providing our clients with the services they need. The work we do has been deemed essential, which means we’re fortunate to be allowed to stay open and continue operating when a lot of other businesses aren’t able to. Being permitted to show up for work every day really puts things in perspective, and each and every one of us is so grateful for it. Our work has certainly shifted in several ways, but we’re doing our best to embrace the change. Primarily, restrictions and protocols have been put in place to keep things as safe as possible. We’re all about safety first, so our safety manager has been implementing new, heightened systems at each of our job sites to keep our teams and clients safe. We all need a little peace of mind in these strange times, and this is our way to bring some to our clients. As we implement our new systems and find ways to work with suppliers that now have limited means, we’ve had to extend the duration of current jobs longer than we originally anticipated. This doesn’t change our promise to deliver. It means we’re working twice as hard to make sure the job gets done, and we’re incredibly thankful for the patience our clients have shown.

So know that we’re here now, and we’ll still be here whenever you need us. gone above and beyond to exemplify everything teamwork stands for.” “During a time when teamwork has taken a big hit for many businesses, our team has instead

A VOYAGE FOR THE SOUNDS OF EARTH

Record Your Own Audio Time Capsule

In 1977, a NASA committee led by esteemed astrophysicist and author Carl Sagan set out to record images and sounds from around Earth, which were then enshrined in two copper records that included music, languages, and natural sounds from around the world. The Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 spacecraft carry these records, and since the ‘70s, they have explored space and routinely sent transmissions to Earth about what they have encountered. As Sagan said of the Voyager mission, “The spacecraft will be encountered and the record played only if there are advanced spacefaring civilizations in interstellar space, but the launching of this ‘bottle’ into the cosmic ‘ocean’ says something very hopeful about life

on this planet.” We may still not have definitive answers about extraterrestrial life, but that doesn’t prevent us from thinking about what we might want to tell others about life on Earth. So, why not make your own recording? RECORD YOUR OWN MESSAGE Take inspiration from the Voyager mission by setting out to create a recorded message with your family that can serve as a time capsule for others to enjoy for years to come. As a starting point, ask your kids what they would want to tell future generations or interstellar travelers. What does life on Earth look like to them?

to loved ones and have fun sharing it with them. Think of a family member or friend who could use a pick-me-up and create a recording just for them. KEEP IT SIMPLE Most phones and computers have an audio recorder app, and this should be all you need to make a recording. Start by creating your message. You can improvise or write a script beforehand. Then, use your phone or computer to record it. This file can be shared on different platforms and sent to the people you’d like to hear your message. Have fun with this project and think of it as your chance to tell others what life on Earth means to you.

Your messages don’t have to be solely futuristic, either. You can record a message

t Dri Tech Corp, we define teamwork as supporting our team members in achieving an agreed-upon goal. Most often, that goal is giving our clients what they need, when they need it. Part of making that happen is ensuring we have an open-door policy, something that we’ve always valued. We spend a lot of time together in each other’s offices giving and seeking support when we need it the most because that’s what an open-door policy is all about. Teamwork isn’t something you just practice when it’s easy or convenient. It’s something you maintain no matter the circumstances. An “all hands on deck” mentality means that no matter the current state of our work, our clients, or our community, we are here, ready to find a way to get things done by working together. The day to day of what we do might change with each sunrise, but the consistency of our teamwork is what allows us to face those changes head on. Teamwork: OUR THIRD CORE VALUE VIC’S CORNER

JOY, HOPE, AND LOVE Looking for Positive Influences in the World

As spring turns to summer, people are still feeling the impacts of COVID-19. At the time of writing, states across the U.S. are still feeling the heavy influence of quarantine and stay- at-home orders. With news changing daily, it’s hard to predict what the rest of the year will look like. However, no matter what may happen, we encourage you to keep finding things that lighten your heart, make you smile, and bring you joy. In the past few months, people all across the world have taken it upon themselves to bring happiness into the world in any way they can. Through sites such as YouTube and Facebook and news networks, individuals have reported acts of random kindness across the country and throughout the world. One such individual is actor John Krasinski, known for his role as Jim in “The Office.” On March 29, Krasinski uploaded the first episode of his new YouTube show, “Some Good News,” where he reports on local heroes, good deeds, and events that grip the world in hope and love. After his first episode was released, people jumped to follow in his footsteps, creating their own “Some Good News” signs and reporting on similar good news. In the fourth episode, the International Space Station

even took up the call and reported all the good news in the “space world.”

Other actors have joined Krasinski in giving back. Patrick Stewart has posted videos of himself on Twitter reading William Shakespeare’s sonnets with the hashtag #ASonnetADay. Author Neil Gaiman tweeted in late March that he was giving permission for anyone to read his books online. In the podcasting industry, many podcasters are coming up with great new ideas for their listeners. Many new shows, such as “Home Cooking,” “The Kids Are All … Home,” and “Introverts Guide to the Good Life,” give homebound people something to listen to and new activities to try out without leaving their house. Clint McElroy from “The Adventure Zone” has uploaded several YouTube videos of him reading

books, including “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,” for his viewers.

Though the future is unknown, there is still joy in the world. Look for the people eager to spread that happiness.

On Sunday, June 20, the sun will stay up in Alaska until almost midnight, longer than any other day of the year. That’s because June 20 is the summer solstice, the day when one of the Earth’s poles is tilted so drastically toward the sun that light hits our whole hemisphere for a few extra hours. It’s a beautiful phenomenon, but it can also be disruptive — particularly if you’re trying to sleep. CAN’T SLEEP? THERE’S AN APP FOR THAT Life has already thrown a lot of stressors at us over the last six months, so if the extra daylight is the icing on the cake of your insomnia, it might be time to turn to your smartphone for some high- tech help. These two innovative apps can help you get your eight hours in spite of Mother Nature’s curveballs. Pzizz: Wander Scientifically Crafted ‘Dreamscapes’ Step aside, white noise machines: Pzizz is here to take background noise to the next level.
