HARMONIZING BEATS AND FITNESS A MELODIC JOURNEY WITH NEO DIMATI NeoDaMix

P roaudio Sound Press (PSP): Thank you for joining us, Neo. Let's start with your journey into DJing. How did you get started? Neo Dimati: For the longest time, I’ve had a keen interest in DJing, and finally, in 2021, I beat the monster called procrastination and enrolled in the DJ & Music Production Institute where I obtained my DJ qualification with flying colors.

PSP: On the flip side, what opportunities do you see being a DJ in South Africa? Neo Dimati: Being booked at social, corporate, and leisure locations or events such as parties, cruises, conferences, and weddings provides great opportunities.

PSP: Staying updated with music trends is crucial. How do you do it?

Neo Dimati: Social media helps me stay up to date with the latest music trends.

PSP: What are your favorite genres of music to DJ?

Neo Dimati: Deep, deep tech, and Afro house are my favorites.

PSP: How do you engage listeners during your performances?

PSP: Can you share some of your favorite tracks to mix?

Neo Dimati: I ensure that I dress the part, play mood-enhancing vocal/sing- along songs, and portray a pleasant and joyful demeanor during my set.

Neo Dimati: I love mixing tracks with vocals and sing-alongs.

PSP: What do you find most rewarding about being a DJ?

PSP: Moving on to the challenges of being a DJ in South Africa, what are some you face? Neo Dimati: Sourcing up-to-date equipment and quality music at affordable prices is a challenge. Secondly, getting regular paying gigs and residencies in hot spots can be difficult.

Neo Dimati: The most rewarding part for me is setting a positive mood among people and playing songs that provoke thoughts and conscience in an enlightening and positive manner.
