So you see God was going to have a big school rig h t h ere a t th e foot of Mount Sinai to teach th e people th e things He w anted them to do, and Moses was the teacher. < God called Moses up on th e m ountain and told him to tell th e peo ple how he punished the wicked king and his people for th e ir sakes, and had brough t them up out of th a t land, and th a t if they would obey Him (God) He would love and help them . A fter this God told Moses to go down and tell all th e people vto wash th e ir clothes, make themselves clean, and be very careful no t to sin, for in th ree days from th a t time, th e Lord was coming down on th e m ountain in a th ick cloud, and all th e people would see th e cloud and h ear God speak. God told the people not to come up on th e mountain on th a t day for they would die, bu t when they should h ea r th e trum p et blow far up on th e mountain, they should all come and stand a t th e foot of Mount Sinai. The people washed th e ir clothes, and cleaned themselves all up, and were very careful no t to sin, and were all ready for the day Moses had told them about. The g reat day came and in th e morning th ere were
thund ering s and lightnings and a thick cloud on Mount Sinai, and th en the trum p et sounded so loud, th a t all th e people trem bled when they heard it. Then Moses led th e people out and they came and stood n ear th e foot of th e mountain. The whole m ountain smoked because th e Lord came down in fire upon it, and th e m ountain shook too. As th e trum p et sounded louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him and called him to th e top of the m ountain. Now listen, God w anted to be sure the people would not forget, so He (God) took two pieces of stone and w rote w ith H is finger rig h t in the stone, H is commandments. Of course we little folks cannot remember all th e commandments, b u t our M. V. is really made up of a little from each one, so if we remember th a t and do as it says, we will be keeping th e commandments God gave to Moses. T h at means we will love God b etter th a n any one else, and if we love Him, we will w ant to do th e things th a t please Him. Closing P ray er.— Dear Lord Jesus we th a n k thee for loving us so much, and help us to love thee w ith all our h eart. ¿vw , .5 8 V 6 *
