Deux organisations de la région ont reçu des investissements importants pour étendre les efforts et les services de réinstallation. L’est de l’Ontario connaîtra bientôt une augmentation de l’immigration. Marie- France Lalonde, secrétaire parlementaire du ministre de l’Immigration, des Réfugiés et de la Citoyenneté, a annoncé que les ser- vices et la capacité de réinstallation seront accrus dans la région. Un investissement de 840 271$ permettra d’élargir le soutien à la gestion de cas et l’accès aux services essentiels pour les nouveaux arrivants. This includes multi-lane roads but excludes traffic on the other side of a road with a median. Vehicle owners will be charged and fined if their vehicle illegally passes a stopped school bus, even if they weren’t driving. The penalty ranges from $400 to $2,000 and six demerit points for a first offence, increasing to $1000 and $4000, six demerit points, and up to six months in jail for repeat offences. Parents are also encouraged to speak with children who walk or bike to school about safety guidelines.
With the new school year starting, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) remind drivers to keep school buses in mind. School buses are in operation again, and the OPP would like to remind drivers to remain cautious. Pedestrian traffic will increase with the exodus of children to school, and school buses will once again be picking up and dropping off students. The OPP recommends allowing extra time during the morning commute and reminding oneself about the rules surrounding school buses.
