Dog Movies for Dog Days

Beat the Heat With a Canine Movie Marathon

Josh Framm feels depressed and distant from his family. Enter a stray golden retriever named Buddy, who teaches Josh how to open his heart again. The two bond and learn lessons in overcoming loss, fighting for what you love, and, yes, playing basketball. “Air Bud” spawned a number of sequels and spin-off movies, but this first film is a true classic. ‘Lady and the Tramp’ “Lady and the Tramp” is the classic story of two dogs who come from different worlds: the refined, loyal Lady and the rogue with a heart of gold, Tramp. This movie has music, laughs, and a spaghetti scene that rivals the balcony monologues from “Romeo and Juliet.” One of the few animated Disney classics about animals that won’t have you in tears, this is a movie the whole family can enjoy together. ‘Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey’ Looking for a bit more action in your animal movies? “Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey” delivers! After three beloved pets are left behind when their family goes on vacation, they trek across the Sierra Nevada wilderness to be reunited with the humans they love. Their adventure has thrills, close calls, and a heartwarming ending that will make you want to hug your pets close.

We’re well into the dog days of summer, the hottest, most humid days of the year. These weeks have nothing to do with real dogs; they were nicknamed after the “dog star” Sirius by the Greeks to reflect the hottest time of the year following the star’s

heliacal rise. Still, it’s a pretty good excuse to escape the heat with a dog movie marathon. Here are the films we recommend.

‘Air Bud’ Most people remember “Air

Bud” for the wild loophole, “Ain’t no rule says a dog can’t play basketball,” but this movie is about much more than a dog playing ball. After the death of his father, 12-year-old

When it’s too hot to go outside, make some popcorn and enjoy these great movies with your family. Don’t worry, none of the dogs die at the end.

Your teeth are small but mighty, but they do not have the ability to regenerate after an injury. The lips, cheeks, and soft tissues in the mouth can miraculously rebuild themselves, but any damage teeth sustain is a lifelong condition. This is why preventing tooth injuries can be key to overall health and well-being. Because teeth are so fragile, athletes of any age are at an increased risk for persisting conditions brought on by injuries to the mouth and jaw. The physical demands of sports — even in seemingly noncontact sports — include the risk that an elbow or ball could be thrown in the wrong direction and hit the teeth or jaw. This leaves an athlete’s mouth susceptible to tooth loss, chipping, and dislocation of the jaw joint, which can affect their diet, confidence, and overall health. In addition to the obvious and lasting damage injuries can have on teeth, an athlete’s jaw integrity is at risk, too. The jaw can be knocked out of place or broken. The dislocation of the joint’s disc can have long-term damage, such as popping/clicking. This painful condition

influences many components of a patient’s well-being, including their diet, neck and shoulder pain, and ear, nose, and throat function. Thankfully, mouthguards may prevent these hits from leaving lasting damage. Custom-made mouthguards add an extra layer of protection to teeth by fitting precisely to an athlete’s bite.

At Dr. Jessica Sabo’s dental practice, our experts can fit athletes for mouthguards. The process begins by taking an impression of the patient’s teeth. Patients can choose from a variety of colors to match their personality or team colors. Then our team works with a lab to generate the mouthguard based on the patient’s choices and mouth impressions. Within a matter of weeks, an athlete’s smile is protected with a custom-fitted mouthguard! Your little athlete’s teeth deserve the ultimate protection so they can focus on their sport while you focus on being their biggest cheerleader.
