NUGGETS

LOOK AT THIS BOY THEN and NOW <• It W as Winter

SUNG DONG KIM was one of the many Korean orphans sleeping out doors on the coldest night. When we found him he was nearly dead from starvation and both feet were frozen and black. Amputation was unavoid able. This and loving care saved his life. Other homeless waifs equally piti ful need shelter and care. W ill you “ adopt” such an orphan today?

Then Came Summer » After several months in the infirmary of our orphan’s home he had gained weight and his stumps were nearly healed. However, blood oozed out of them when Mr. Swanson asked him to move them. Without Christian love and care this boy would have been forced to drag himself about or improvise a little wheeled cart so that he could keep on begging and maybe starving and freez- ng again.

The first two letters of the word Gospel are a mighty constraining G-0! Go! * * * * * WHAT MY ABSENCE FROM CHURCH ACTUALLY DID 1. It made some question the reality of Christianity. 2. It made some think that I was a pretender, a mere hypocrite. 3. It made some think that I regard my spiritual condition and that of others a matter of small concern. 4. It weakened the effort of the church service. 5. It made it harder for the pastor to preach. 6. It discouraged the brethren and there fore robbed them of a blessing. 7. It caused others to stay away from church. 8. It made it harder for me to meet temptation. 9. It gave Satan more power over lost souls. 10. It encouraged the sinful habit of non-church going. WHAT MY PRESENCE DID 1. It caused people to have confidence in me and in what I believe. 2. It made people know that I regard my spiritual welfare and that of others a matter of importance. 3. It had a good effect on the service. 4. It made my friends feel more welcome. 5. It encouraged the brethren, it helped the preacher in his work. 6. It helped others to come to Christ. I believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for me and that believing in Him Til be saved. 7. It made my life stronger for another week. 8. It removed stumbling blocks from the sinner's path. They have nothing to say about me as a hypocrite. 9. It pleased God, filled my heart with peace and joy. 10. It made others say, "He practices what he preaches." * * * * * God put the church into the world . . . but remember . . . Satan seeks to put the world into the church .

<■ Late Summer The amputee center headed by Dr. Reuben R. Torrey, Jr. fitted Sung Dong with these fine artificial limbs. Hope springs up in his young heart. Love has had a way. And with patience and practice young Sung Dong will learn to walk again without crutches or canes. Thus he will face life with fresh hope. Who knows but that he may grow up to be a Christian leader. Look At Him NOW » Here Sung Dong stands alonj once more. He has learned to manipulate his artificial legs and walks confidently. But he will need much help as he starts school, learns daily more of Christ and His love.
