Expansion work continues on Trim Road

Street lighting throughout the project is also planned along with any utility relocations as needed and landscaping where permitted. Lastyearsawthefirstphaseoftheproject, which involved watermain construction along the future Trim Road alignment from Portobello Road to Valin Road. Also included was servicing to Cardinal Creek Park. The second phase this year will see realignmentofTrimRoadfromtheHighway 174 intersection to Innes Road with adjustments to St-Joseph Boulevard and Old Montréal Road. City planners have decided to limit the number of roundabout installations along the route to two, instead of four as the original proposal suggested. Those roundabouts will be at the northernmost intersection points at Dairy Road and St-
Joseph Boulevard. The four other intersec- tion sites at Watters Road, Portobello/ SpringRidgeRoads,thefutureFrankKenny Road intersection, and at Valin Road will have standard traffic light signals.
Final phase of the project involves Frank Kenny Road realignment from Trim Road to a point 1.4 kilometres south of Innes Road. That phase is planned for 2016 or later when funding is reserved.

Everybody either knows someone who has Alzheimer’s Syndrome or has heard of the fearful condition that robs a person of their memories one by one. Now everyone has a chance to help raise money for the research needed to treat people with the condition and maybe find a cure. January is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month when agencies like the Cornwall and District Alzheimer’s Society sponsors public education events to help people understand both the condition and its im- pact on individuals and families. Next month, the society, with help from the Canadian International Hockey Academy (CIHA) is organizing one of several special fundraising events going on throughout Ontario to give people everywhere a chance to show their love for victims of Alzheimer’s and their families.
