The Grads wer at home for their most recent two scheduled games in the Yzerman division, hosting Pembroke on the Tuesday evening and experiencing a 4- 1 loss but then making up for that by squeezing out a 6-5 win against Kanata Jan. 22 at the Navan Memorial Arena. This week they are in Nepean at the Sportsplex for a Wednesday night game and then in Carleton Place on Friday. The Rockland Nationals had a bit better luck, losing 7-6 to the Embrun Panthers in last Friday's road game but crowning the Papineauville Vikings 3-2 Sunday in Papineauville.

The Cumberland Grads had to put in some extra effort on their mid-January weekend round of junior A games in the Central Canada Hockey League. The Grads went into over-time on their Jan. 13 game against Hawkesbury but it paid off with a 3-2 win for Cumberland. Sunday afternoon’s match with Brockville did not work out quite as easy as the two teams battled into extra over-time butwiththeGradsstillmanagingtosqueeze a 4-3 win in the shoot-out. TheRocklandNatsminorhockeyteams need some new jerseys to wear for their road games. The youth hockey group will have players and volunteers out and about at the Rockland branch of Scotiabank doing raf- fle ticket sales on Feb. 2 and Feb. 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. The Scotiabank branch will match dol- lar for dollar every raffle ticket sold up to a maximum of $5000. First prize in the raffle is a 43-inchplasma TV, suitable for watching NHL games on the weekend. Second prize for Sens fans are a pair of Ottawa Senators tickets at the 100 level for seating. Third prize is a Canadian International Hockey Academy certificate. Fourth and fifth prizes are family of four passes to see an Ottawa 67s home game this season. Sixth prize is a Polar watch.
