APEGA Council As a public member to APEGA Council, I am pleased to have the opportunity to contribute to the 2025 annual report, and I enthusiastically embrace this year’s theme: “Regulating the Professions, Protecting the Public.” As the regulator of a large, diverse, and dynamic self-regulated professional body, APEGA and council strive to evolve as the sector evolves and to remain agile and forward thinking as we continue to uphold our public protection mandate in an ever-changing world. Educating ourselves on modern technologies, operating within shifting societal expectations, and embracing trends in the regulatory space will continue to be required. I believe protecting the public is about more than standard setting, enforcement, and managing complaints—it also includes a commitment to transparency and accountability. I see my role as a public member to APEGA Council as one member of a strong team of guardians of the public trust, helping to achieve and maintain a fairer, safer, and more equitable and sustainable society for Albertans and the professionals we regulate. I am proud to be included in the role of public member with APEGA Council. It affords me and my fellow public members an opportunity to contribute to the forward trajectory of this regulatory body, and to learn about this critical sector of our professional workforce in Alberta. I am very confident in APEGA’s future and in our shared commitment to those we regulate and the public we serve.
